I would be amazed if we got anything from today's game - but then most didn't expect us to get anything at Pompey. If the defence plays like Tuesday, then it could be a difficult afternoon. Hopefully, Downes will be restored to solidify the defence a little more.

Here's an incentive for the team. With Wycombe's match at Cheltenham off a win today takes us out of the bottom two. :scarf:

I'm not sure what more the defence could have done. Northants scored with both their shots on target and they hardly wasted any good chance besides.

No, we shouldn't beat Chesterfield, they should beat us about 6-0, but then, if results like Chesterfield 0 - 1 Torquay didn't ever happen, the bookmakers would go broke in a fortnight. This season, more than any other, is a toss up. I've seen us dominate teams from start to finish, out play them completely, dominate every stat and lose 3-1 (and plenty more games besides). Go out, put in a shift, make it hard for them to play their game and, more crucially than anything, take our bloody chances when they come. Time and again we see dreadful sides take three points having barely a kick, how about we start doing the same?

I feel confident today and expect us to put in a better performance than we did on Tuesday.

As been reported, CH gave the players a bit of a tongue lashing after the Cobblers game and I think we should see a reaction from the players today. Hopefully, the reaction will be a positive one. Those that don't should have their cards marked.

Don't forget chaps an chapesses, we normally play better against the teams at the top end of the table.

Keep the faith and hopefully by 5o/c today, we'll have 3 points and be out of the bottom two. :scarf:

I'm usually at away games, so I don't know the form. What time do we find out the team?

Tonge, Chapell, Cruise, back in the team to start. Mansell moves back to his usual position?

Nicholson out, Benyon out, Bodin injured. Didn't get any more details.

I thought between them, Nicholson and O'Connor did badly for both goals. In fact they were almost identical. Sinclair had pace and guile. He was simply too good for our defence. Agree with you that freak results happen. Ian Atkins got a win at champions-elect, Carlisle, when we were bottom.

Will be delighted if our best 2 full backs are back- Tonge and Cruise. I don't understand why Chappell as our top scorer doesn't get more game but at least he will be back in. Interesting to see what strikers he plays.
