Torquay United V Newport County 22nd March 2014
Yes Zebs missed a penalty before Dagenham scored two early goals. Howe must be injured I guess. They are missing a couple of defenders including Yakubu. Byron Anthony went off injured and is getting an X ray so presumably thats him gone as well for Saturday.
They also managed to get their captain (another defender) sent off in two minutes for the end so he's out as well I guess.
They are complete shite so really this could be a decent chance for us. Lets hope we can take it.

Completely acceptable and compulsory for both Torquay players and the crowd. No holds barred, we know how sensitive he is and therefore susceptible to red carding.Dave_Pougher wrote:Been thinking about this one for a while. Are we at level now where fair means or foul are allowed to save our league status? If we are at the latter, and I feel that maybe we are, I would seriously consider winding Zebroski up before and certainly during this one. We know all to well how easily that can be done. Fat boy Howes past his best.
Is that acceptable or not?
That's presuming he's selected of course

Not acceptable!
He was a good servant to us and should not be slated unless he asks for it.
Life is like TUFC. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.
Sorry but I couldn't care less if he was a good servant or not. If there is anything we can do to gain a sly advantage then we should do it. I'd much rather see Torquay in L2 next season than to make Zebs feel welcome!kevgull wrote:

Don't be so wet. What loyalty did he show Torquay when he left us to join Paul **** for a big wad of cash? Wind him up, I say, and get him sent off.kevgull wrote:

The trouble is Brucie - Rochdale probably described us as 'complete shite' before they arrived at Plainmoor and we certainly thought Harrogate were 'complete shite' before last season's F.A. Cup humiliation. It's all about what happens on the day ...... taking chances, a little bit of help from Lady Luck (we're due some) and please, please - just for once this season, a half decent referee !!!!!!!!!!brucie wrote: They are complete shite so really this could be a decent chance for us. I don't agree with winding him up but, point of order: the circumstances in which he left for Rovers don't exactly reflect well on him (or on Buckle, for that matter). The manner of his departure was pretty poor.kevgull wrote:

Were they poor? Did he not just leave when offered a contract by another club? Is this not the sort of thing which happens a thousand times a season all over the world? As far as I recall, he left in the summer, long after the season had finished. He left with plenty of notice, he left at the end of his contract, he left in his own car and having returned all the stuff we gave him. Alright, he did squirm off to join The Snake up at Bristol "not as big as they think they are" Rovers, but given that they probably doubled his salary and put him on money far beyond his ability, I think he'd have been insane not to have gone.
Have I forgotten some crucial detail? Did he hire one of those little aircraft to pull behind it a banner reading "**** off Torquay, you inbred twats" or something? Did he do a large poo in the centre circle, or hide a Bream behind the radiator in the manager's office?
Or are we jut upset because he used to play for us, but now he doesn't (which would be absolutely acceptable, I'm just wondering)?
Matt.

Personally don't care that Zebroski left us, or the reasons why, when, or who he went to. All I care about right now is TUFC staying in League it's seriously is vital for our club to do so, the team needs to win this game no other result will do, if I thought winding Zebroski would help, then fair game, I'll give it a go, however note of warning, winding up an ex-player can often make them play better.

We are all pretty aware that Buckle knew he was off to Bristol Rovers before the POF. So presumably he would have sounded out players before. Did they give it their best shot at Old Trafford ? Of course we'll never know, I don't think they did, but that's history, tapping up etc. don't like it but it happens. Zebs was lets be honest a pain to the club with his troubles before during and after TQY so at least he was consistent lol. Definitely don't hold any hard feelings.
Equally I don't like "sportsmanship" but again it happens and there isn't a lot I wouldn't do to gain my objective if I had anything to do with team matters. So yes I would try and niggle him.
POSTSCRIPT NOTE TO TEAM:
I SAID NIGGLE,,,,,,,, NOT I REPEAT NOT NIBBLE !!!!

Matt asks whether he has forgotten a crucial detail with regard to the Zebroski transfer. Certainly there were a large number of Torquay fans very sceptical of the 'family reasons' and 'I don't want to drive so far to training' which Chris gave as explanations for handing in a transfer request, whereas those of us taking a more cynical view surmised that the true reason was that Buckle had probably been in touch and offered him a sizeable pay increase, rather than the line which was being fed to us fans. While that may not rank as a crucial detail, neither do I think it deserves to be ignored completely when recalling the events surrounding the transfer.
If, as Matt says, Zebs left us at the end of his contract, I'm unsure why he needed to hand in a transfer request or why Bristol Rovers would have paid a transfer fee ? Matt knows far more about what happens at the club than myself or most of us, and if he assures us that Zebs gave plenty of notice then that's fair enough, but for the ordinary supporter following the official site or the media, we were only aware of there being 5 days at the most (Thursday to Monday) between the announcement of Zebs requesting to go onto the transfer list and the announcement that we'd accepted an undisclosed fee from Bristol Rovers.
I don't blame Zebs for increasing his wages and reducing his petrol bill by moving to Rovers, but I hope he has one of his poorer games when he returns to Plainmoor on Saturday.

It seems to me that whenever ex-Torquay United players return ( as part of the opposition ) and receive abuse, it often backfires and spurs them on to punish us. I think it is far better to greet them with some applause and they feel less "fire in their belly".
