I saw today that for the rest of the season there is no midweek round of fixtures where all 24 teams play on the same day (even allowing for TV moves). That does seem a strange way of compiling the fixture schedule.

can someone please tell me. When the other clubs played. why were 4 teams in the conference not playing. was there some negotaition between those clubs to alter te schedule at all. or certain players out on duty for internationals or was the Club chef having a night off.

I'm guessing, Glos, that each club gets a "week off" from playing.

Not sure it really matters though - we all play the same amount of games. Whether we all play them on the same days is neither here nor there, its where we are at the end of the season that matters.

I cannot remember where I saw it, but the bloke who does the Conference fixtures (by hand) said that of the 8 midweek fixtures sets, 6 were complete and 2 were partial. We got the week off, apparently, because of concerns that we would clash with Plymouth/Exeter and they didn't want that. There was no explanation of what "clash" meant, or who "they" were.

Matt.

I agree. We've played two games a week for most of September so maybe a rest will do the players some good.

Personally, I'm in favour of the players having a midweek break. On Saturday evening, we'll hopefully get the 3 points against Alfreton and then all this will be forgotten.
