Just playing devil advocate here but a lot depends on Marsh's attitude. If he wants away (likely) then forcing him to stay - are when then leaving ourselves open to a sulky and lazy striker for three months?

Trouble is, at some point somebody has to make a stand and tell a stroppy player to grow up and get on with it. We lost Bowman because he wasn't happy and his goals would have put us in a much better position. Hurst was stroppy but there were other issues with him and we miss his goal input. If Marsh also leaves, we'll have two unproven newbies and Fairhurst who currently is looking like a complete waste of money.

This club is becoming a farce. Can't think of any other club that would let their top scorer stroll out of the club without a decent wedge in return.
Fans they may be, a love for Torquay United they obviously have, but the board are proving they are completely unfit to run a football club with error after error.

Why is everybody so emphatic that Marsh is off. ? Why do people think in that situation we will receive not be getting a 'decent wedge' . ? It all seems a totally crazy thing to be doing. If there were say 7O or 100k on the table there might be some sort of case I suppose but this? I know nothing but what do others know. ? If Marsh leaves and there is only the token transfer sum the situation then is that Nicholson needs to immediately go as well. I'm sorry but no manager worth the name would surely condone a situation where all his leading scorers express unhappiness and are allowed toleave. He will have demonstrated beyond any doubt that he is no manager at all and his credibility will be shot with all his team and all supporters.

Has anyone else in the squad scored plural goals? Best to hope for is that each player takes it in turn to score a single goal in a 1-0 win - as soon as any player looks like scoring a few they bugger off!

He may want to go to Dover ( and anywhere else near London.) but it's for the club and its manager to show they are acting in Torquays best interest.
They may well be two entirely different things and the club have the trump hand. They need to show some real strength. Real money to fund replacements quickly or the guy stays.
If not and we wimp away from confrontion again Nicholson needs to go and we must start building properly for next season.

Exactly - tell him that he can go at the end of the season when his contracts up. We won't get any money for him now but are putting 6k and possibly more on the line by gifting the FA Trophy Tie to Macclesfield.
If that makes him unhappy so what? - it will only benefit him to play well for the rest of the season to boost his chances of a move to wherever he wants to go at the end of the season.
It looks that simple to me.

It's all irrelevant now anyway, Altrincham won tonight so the gap is 9 points now from safety................doomed.

No not doomed yet. Plenty of games left if we show some real grit. That process has to start with the Board. They have to be as tough as they want their team to be. If they and their Manager keep rolling over and being soft what do they expect from the team. The season should start now..... ->

Has anyone considered that perhaps the manager wants another bad apple out of the way so that the rebuilding can continue? Just maybe there is no rolling over by either the manager or the board, perhaps another player identified as not having the right attitude and application is being moved on to allow someone else the chance to come in and continue the recent improvement in performance. Perhaps the manager does actually know what he's doing and some of the resident experts are barking up the wrong tree.

Part of nicholsons job is to manage the team. In the team of people I manage there are people who are naturally hardworking with a great attitude, and others who moan, are negative and generally a bit lazy. The whole point of my job is to make these people work together as a unit, and get productivity from everyone.
Obviously in some cases it is right to get rid - hurst, for example, sounded like a decent decision, but unless marsh is going around smacking people in the mouth then all you've done SG is highlight one more reason why Nicholson is not fit for purpose - incapable of managing people.
Of course it's pointless moaning at him about it, it's not his fault he's our manager. The fault lies squarely at the feet of the directors who made this catastrophic decision on the first place. They obviously didn't want us to be relegated, but as many on here and the terraces predicted Appointing Nicholson basically ensured that fate. The road to ruin is paved with good intentions.
