I actually thought Ricey had a couple of moments of indecision on Saturday - but it was his first game behind a new defence, i'm not sure it's reasonable to expect the transition to be seamless.
As for whether he's a far superior keeper to when he left, i don't know. And i really don't care. Whetever noises are being made about him contesting the Number 1 spot, it's nonsense. He's a back-up keeper. As long as he's satisfied with that, will continue to work hard and isn't draining too much in the way of finances, i remain very satisfied with his presence.

I was much more impressed with Ricey than I was with David James, if that helps.

i'm more than happy to give Ricey my support. like McPhee, coming back to a club where they've received criticism, and things were less than perfect for them previously, shows guts, bottle and more. I wish them both every success, and in order to help them succeed here this time round, some of you should try cutting them a bit of slack, give them a bit of support, and see if they can take the opportunities presented to them. i seriously hope they both prove the doubters wrong, and i think they will - i'll happily eat my words if they fail, but they deserve a chance.

I far as I know the club have not said what length of contract they have given him?Bloggy wrote:Sorry, lazy post! (Don't have time to trawl all the way through this thread)!

The club haven't said I don't think. But as Howe, Morris, Oastler all have signed 2 year contracts it's a good bet that Rice has signed on a 2 year contract as well.

That'll give Martin the stability and motivation to get his career back on track.
A vision of the future : FA Cup 3rd Round v Manchester United at Old Trafford (at last !). 0-0 and the dick with the whistle gives Man U a penalty in stoppage time. Torquay's 2nd goalkeeper (in for the suspended Bobby) and played a full part in a superb defensive performance, bobs on his line facing Rooney. Rooney steps up and sends the strike to the 'keeper's top right hand corner. Rice leaps like a cat and tips the effort on to the bar and over it goes into the Stretford end.
TUFC are now mobbed with offers from top flight clubs for their 'keeper. Rice turns every offer down as he doesn't want to be a bench warmer.
The board of directors are not best pleased at missing out on their first £1,000,000 transfer sale.

The Janner Indy seemed to suggest that Rice had signed a 2yr deal.
