Knill out
So who do you think Torquay United's money is then?! Their own...The ones who hired him and agreed upon his contract are responsible and should shoulder the blame,in an ideal world they should pay off Knill with their own money and not Torquay United Football Clubs money. But we all know that wont happen, dont we!

Look, there is no point blaming the board for this. Knill kept us up last season and despite what we may think about how he did it, he did it and i, like the board thought he should be given the chance to manage us and see what he could do. Nobody could ever have envisaged just what carnage the man could produce in the space of 4 months and so we shouldn't be pointing the finger at the board. Yes you argue that they didn't conduct a thorough search for a manager and in hindsight maybe they should but i just think they will be as flabbergasted as we all are about just how crap Knill is.
We should be looking for a solution and not pointing the finger. The issue is that if Knill stays then we go down and the longer we leave it the harder it will be to survive because we are regressing faster than other teams and progressing slower than other teams. So the board have to make a decision.
If they cannot afford to get rid then I'm fine with that. That is the situation so therefore we need to put him on gardening leave and promote someone internally at the club to the hotseat. It's a massive gamble and not ideal but it gives us more of an opportunity of staying in the division than sticking with an abject failure. Put it this way, it can't get much worse. We then support the replacement wholeheartedly and cross our fingers.
What i am not fine with is a lack of action and indecisiveness and whatever the board decide they need to decide right now. If they act now either way and we still drop then i won't blame the board one iota for it but Knill has to be removed from team affairs with immediate effect. Failing to do so isn't an option at this stage.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Good plan as an interim measure, sack Knill on Monday. This will give the board a week or so to sort things out.nickbrod wrote:How about Geoff Harrop & Robbie Herrara given a chance?

Everybody keeps saying Torquay united cannot afford to sack their manager. Also there are others who have said some of the board really pushed for Knill and would not entertain the thought of anybody else.by hector » 22 minutes ago
Who does the money raised by transfers and gate money belong to then?
I understand a lot of the money that Torquay United have in their coffers is through investment from the board of directors.
I was trying to express what should happen in an ideal world, but life is not like that. The point I was making is they are the ones who made the bad decisions of hiring a manager without exploring more than one option. They also allowed a contract (if they have) that says even though a manager has failed miserably and has made a right ball up of things but he can walk away laughing his ass off after 7 months with a small fortune in his back pocket. Therefore those that made those decisions should be accountable and why should the money required to pay him off come from what Torquay United have in their bank account, those that made these 2 glaring errors should stump up the dough required to get rid of the incompetent manager. But that wont happen!
But then again if I had my way I would tell him to get on his bike and do one and then I would not give that man a penny.

Would I end up paying more or would everything get tied up for a long time whilst it went to a tribunal just to get knill the original amount he was supposedly owed?
Either way it was just theoretical, like I said earlier, that would be in an ideal world.I'm just fed up and p1ssed off, like everyone else and it is a kick in the teeth to not be able to get rid of somebody who is doing a bad job because we have to give them money they dont deserve.
The main gripe is, like I started with in my original post, it is a very bad joke that so many crap football managers do a totally incompetent job for a few months then walk away laughing with a big wedge for doing sod all. If most of us in our jobs performed that badly, contract or not, we would be out on our ear with bugger all.
Surely if this is a contractural thing then as i said earlier there should be realistic amounts of compensation agreed beforehand with certain failsafes set in place. If a manager thinks he is capable and is confident in his abilities then he will agree to terms, if he doesnt like terms then get someone else.

Bollocks, when you put it that way, fair enough!
Its still not fair that he should get all that money for doing such a sh1t job though.
But then again I suppose it is the clubs own fault for getting themselves in a contractural situation that allows such a scenario to occur.
Things like this in football have to change surely.
