….yeah how?….how about using the option we had last season and every other season of loans. If the budget was the same and the only reason we haven’t recruited 5 loans is that the “right” players are not out there…while every other full time team has a full complement of the “right”loans. There are…and prove me wrong here…even part time players who would improve our squad out there..because these are the mechanics kitchen fitters and postmen who have been out playing and out fighting our full time players…so yeah that’s how.

Your expecting part time players to give up their jobs for a few months to turn full time?

Would you have players only training 2 nights a week playing in a full time professional club??

How would this work?

For the first time this season I predicted we would lose 2-1 simply because without Jarvis we are bankrupt in that vital attacking area and without Lapslie we have no one to match his energy and battling instincts.

After impressing in pre season we are very short on confidence and we are on a horrible run of form. In addition we are attempting to play teams many of whom have battle hardened players with a lot of experience of lower league football.

Today we started with 1 outfield player who was experienced and battle hardened namely Dean Moxey. If you look at the other 9 players 3 are learning the game Tomlinson, Craske and Collins.

3 come in the category of very hard to assess as from game to game you have no idea what they are going to do next and neither do they!

Stobbs should be a match winner at this level but is he? Ash needs a lot more support from our non existent midfield but remember last season in this League he scored 24 goals for a poor Weymouth team who escaped relegation on the last day. We are not giving him any proper service like playing the ball to his feet instead of lumping it.

The 10th outfield player today was on loan Callum Dolan who sounds like a very promising attacking midfielder and just what we need.

If this team started with Dawson, Hall, Jarvis and Lapslie all fit and on form it would be a match for all teams in this league with the exception of Yeovil who look like walking it.

So what am I trying to say? We need just 2 players soon and they have to be the right ones. An experienced specialist right back and a Guy Branston type center back with a shedload of experience to command the center of defence.

I feel this season is a mirror image of last season but I am confident we will not leave it to the last 8 games to go on an unbeaten run. Remember we have 32 games left and we will turn it around but only if 2 things happen.

First we recruit the right players and second we get Jarvis and Lapslie back ASAP and Asa Hall becomes a starter and Dawson is back by late November at the latest.

If the crowd turn on the players it plays into the hands of the opposition so we have to be patient for the next 3 or 4 weeks, COYY

Full time part time mix of players is not new. Not having a full complement of loans is bizarre. Part time players are stuffing us every game.

Well last week he believed in the squad - now we are desperate for new recruits

Crap questions - tick
Blames the ref - tick
Says statistically we were the better team - tick

We apparently had a good budget, but getting players to relocate is a challenge. Be honest, is location hurting us in the current climate!

All competitions this season:

Played 16
Lost 8

Not good enough for a manager of his experience.
Not good enough for the players he selected.
Not good enough for a professional outfit.
Not good enough for the budget he had.

Not good enough for TUFC!
Life is like TUFC. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. :goal:

Portugull, I think you are being very generous, , so we wait another 3 or 4 weeks?? I wish I had your optimism. If we are relying on Hall and Dawson to pull us out of this mess, we really are in trouble. How long until Dawson is actually match fit for 90 minutes? Christmas? As for Hall, I have loved him as a player and what he has done at TUFC, but his legs have gone. Neither of them should have been retained. Losing Jarvis for any more than 2/3 games is a disaster. I agree, missing Lapslie big time.
Barring an unlikely implosion by Yeovil, the automatic spot for promotion has gone and we are only in October. I have very little faith in Johnson turning this disaster around and, sadly, even less faith that the club will act to change it.

Listening to these comments several threads are spreading from the initial comment, Edwards said there was no problem with the budget, my take on that is that Johnson got who he asked for, our budget is as good as most in this league and if he cannot make them into footballers then thats on him not the board, Yes, we have trouble relocating players to the south west, a perennial issue and no one has come up with a solution in modern times, however we have plymouth, exeter, two bristols even cheltenham and swindon at a push where we can get loans in without them having to relocate, just pay them a generous mileage allowance.
In any event what is wrong with sourcing a part timer who wishes to keep their normal job for the day when football is no longer an option, surely the only question should be can they do a job for us,certainly back when I was younger the majority of theTorquay team had part time jobs. does it matter if they rock up at plainmoor with a plumbers van to park amongst the exalted mercedes and audis are so called pro's manage to drive,
From what I have seen home and away this season against the so called part timers there has been no obvious differnence in fitness levels, but they have all shown more effort, endeavour and will to get their win bonus.

Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he (Magic Johnson) arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. (MATTHEW 8:26)
