the reason being nick, is that they were that much in the sh*t there was no-one else. and yes he has been brilliant.

however our predicament is different -for a start bournmouth didnt run the risk of leaving the football league.....

When Eddie Howe was appointed Bournemouth manager on 19th January 2009 they were 23rd in League 2 on 7 points(having been -17). I'd say they were very much in danger of losing their football league status. Their position is very much a mirror image of where we are right now. Ironically, they would've been replaced by.......Torquay United!!!

I'm not saying Greavsie would be the right or wrong option, however he would be as much of a gamble as Howe was then.

Might get a bit of stick for this......but I would actually quite like to see Buckle return, I know not many people on here would want him back, but IMO we were a top league 2 side under his management. However how effective would he be without Shaun North as his number 2?

Anyway..... Never going to happen with his new role in America, which is why I can't understand for the life of me why sky bet has him with odds as sort as 6/1 to return..???

Radio Devon have just said they are hearing rumours it will be Hargreaves. If it turns out to be him I'll have mixed feelings - on the one hand I would have been disappointed to miss out on him to Northampton but it is a terribly difficult situation for him to come in to. I just hope there might be some scope to bring in someone with a bit more experience like Sturrock in an advisory role to guide him through the rest of the season. Whatever division we find ourselves in next year he has to be given a proper chance and I'm sure he will, however I still would have preferred to have Sturrock (for this season) but given the timing I suppose they had to make the move now.

Hargreaves has everything that's required except managerial experience. Ideally we need an experienced manager who can energise and motivate his players: Neil Warnock, Sturrock or Allen, or even Leroy. On the other hand, a new man without managerial experience could be ideal if all the other boxes are ticked. Paul Buckle was a good example, as is Bournemouth's current boss Eddie Howe. Hargreaves fits this profile and will certainly be motivated to do well at Plainmoor, and with the right assistant manager (whether Shaun Taylor or one of the current Plainmoor staff) could turn out to be be an astute appointment.

Given his experience and his track record at Barnet which you mention Yellowsmiffy, I would certainly go for Allen over Hargreaves. This is no time for sentiment, friendship or connections. We need experience and proven ability.

In the last 36 hours I have heard its 'definitely' going to be 3 different people, and the strong possibility it will be 2 others. I think we can safely say that no-one is any the wiser and lets just wait until the man is appointed and then get on with the show at that point.

On today's performance the new man will have a lot to work with. We do not look like a doomed side. Plenty of time to stamp his own footprints into the team. All we can do is get behind him, whoever he is.

There isn't really any time. Knill should have gone two months ago. We are so far adrift (pointswise) that we are going to have to produce promotion form to get out of the mire. Short of appointing merlin as the manager it looks likely that we are going down.
In some ways it was worse that we played well yesterday, deserved to win and didn't. It was a result that really hurt.
Whether we look like a doomed side or not doesn't matter. We have to start winning games and quickly - its a massive ask really.
