Coldplay - Yellow isn't a great sing along song (unless you're a Coldplay fan). Something more simple and fun is needed for crowd participation, barring that then I would plump for a rousing instrumental piece for the players to walk out to (Grandstand theme, Pipeline by the Ventures or Dead Bodies by Air).

I loved Trojan's "March of the Mods" about 7 posts back. Really brought back memories of 60's Plainmoor leaning on the fence waiting in anticipation for our heroes to emerge. Those smells of onion, tobacco smoke, and liniment mixing together with the music to create the experience that was Plainmoor, and warming us all up to welcome our gladiatorial swashbuckling heroes to put yet another Northern team to the sword. Stubbs, Northcott, Benson, Jenkins, Wolstenholme, Bettany ... 48 goals in 12 successive league and FA Cup games .... 4 a game! .... and another 16 goals went in at the other end! 5.3 a game!!

Certainly value for money, and no goal music required then just a few thousand wooden rattles swung manically above the head like a demented cowboy trying to lasso a steer! Mind you with the number of goals we were scoring then the bloody goal music would have been on all game!

I would love to see A Banda back as the run out tune. It was good enough for about 30 years and for me is part of the tradition of the club. My e-mail to the club pleaded desperately for no goal music, and my other choices were Children by Robert Miles at half-time (another more recent Plainmoor favourite) and Yellow by Coldplay as we leave the ground.

With the PA system being attached to the Grandstand though there may be nowhere to play it!!

Post Match music? couldn't care if they played the Fast food song in all honesty, out the ground and heading home.

Agree with your views on Coldplay, but have to say the matchday experience is so important, aside from the football. All the small factors such as music, the programme, half-time entertainment, food and drink et al go a long way to providing a match experience that new and old fans want to come back to. Don't think we should bemoan the club for trying to give us more for our money.

In a nutshell.

Coldplay is a non starter as far as I'm concerned. We need something rousing and uplifting as run out music. Something that no other team has, preferably. Something that will get us all united and behind the team for at least 5 minutes.

Will go and have some marmite soldiers and see if I can think of anything.

For run on music if they could all sprint and get their backsides on the pitch in 26 seconds then the intro to 'Aint Talkin' 'bout Love' by Van Halen would be ace!

Music will be a big issue once getting fans involved. There are so many people that like diffrent stuff.

Its like Richinns, no offence i have never been a fan of AC/DC and would not want that at any point during a game, where as you would love it.
I agree there should be no goal music as that does ruin it, i prefer the noise of the corwd.

End of the day, i reckon they should be asking the players what run out music they would want. If its to pump them up then surley a track of there request would be better. By 3pm on a saturday afternoon im already up for the football so music doesnt make much difference to me. I have always loved Children by Robert Miles on a match day. Old classic which i have always enjoyed.

For what it;'s worth, no goal music please. It s a waste of time with our p.a and adds nothing to the atmosphere. Now that Buckle has gone, the goal music can go with him (the flag waving and other stuff can stay though!).

Run out music has got to be A Banda but The Kids are United (Sham 69) and Children (Robert miles) should still be played in the lead up to kick off.

Not too bothered about what is played at half time, but keep it upbeat and lighthearted. Perhaps some Wurzels, Chas and Dave, Monty Python Sings (album) you are my sunshine . That sort of thing.

Alternatively, anything relevant to the team we are playing. For example, Exeter City played we ll meet again after the game against Argyle last season. Inspired choice.

Against Rovers for example, we could play lock up your daughters by Motorhead or Me, myself and I by De La Soul. :devil: Put the names of the songs in the programme so people get the connection.

At full time, you could play Closing Time by Semisonic.

I've never heard of Coldpay.

They also wanted no music before the game to add to the atmosphere. We could do it 15 minutes before kick off,that would be good and add to the buzz of it all when the music comes on to the players running out. I've always been a fan of Robert Miles - Children but I do think its the players choice of what song should be played. The music before the game I think it's fine how it is.

And of course I suggested a return to Herb Alpert and Robert Miles pre-match. I can only ever think of Plainmoor when I hear these songs (especially the latter)
