Sorry Matt predictive text !! Edited accordingly . Was you at the game today I really can't agree with you mate, renders was so poor and lazy it was appaling.

From some promising signings I do feel things have fizzled out somewhat. Rendell is a complete donkey and if he is our only forward option as a signing then its poor. Luton don't want him for a reason.
As for Cooper - its a worry that he isn't a specialist centre half and isn't big enough.

I hope that as Cooper is a FOOTBALLER who can play in many positions that would warrant a contract as he can play the game !! 200 odd games for Bournemouth and games with Portsmouth does suggest that he can play a bit !!!!! He may outplay some of our players who are in the comfort zone ???????

I totally agree Brucie I thought we would have been able to attract a better player than Rendell, we looked at little lightweight up top yesterday. If we cannot get the right person in on a permanent I think we are going to have to rely on loans which is worrying.

I agree with brucie; it's getting a little late in the day now.

Whether Cooper is a footballer or not is probably not that relevant. However well he can pass the ball isn't going to mean he is going to be dominant in the air against the likes of Howe,Akinfenwa,Platt and co. Sorry big centre half and striker needed and neither seem to be forthcoming.

Very worrying if this is the kind of player we are looking at, bsp reject!

We can do much better than BSP quality for a striker seeing as we've signed plenty of players better than the conference.

If Knill had already lined up season long loans,then why is he bothering to trial Rendell & Cooper? Is he going to offer them both a contract early next week perhaps? It appears at the moment that he has very few contacts in the game & is unable to attract players down here to sign, it could be that he just does not have the funds available to do the job. We are now less than two weeks away from the first league game & have not yet signed the backbone of the team. "Worrying" is a good description of the current situation.

Jeez rewind a few weeks and it was the same posts of "it's too late" " it's worrying now" " knill can't attract who he wants"

Then we sign Tonge and Benyon it gpes quiet again, hysteria returns but in comes Chappel and Cameron and a bit later Harding.

Now we are back to blind panic from some people, have a bit of faith, and if we don't have a decent centre forward (that's not rendell) against Wimbledon then you can say I told you so!

In Knill we trust. I am not panicking yet about these two key positions. What he has brought in thus far has given me confidence he will find the right players.

At least Knill is looking at Rendell which in stature is exactly the kind of player we need to offer us another striking option up front and to help offer a physical presence to the likes of Benyon, Chappell, Bodin, Cameron and Yeoman. So he is aware that we need someone like this. As I have said on many occasions, we'll struggle with 4 or 5 attack minded players all the same size and the same style but I think Knill knows this and so is trying to fill that gap.

Also Knill is looking at Cooper so he knows we need a centre back. Needing these players and getting them though are two different things altogether.

With 12 days to go until we play Wimbledon, the quest for new players has hit the buffers it would seem and the 2 or 3 I hoped to see following on quickly from Chappell and Cameron haven't materialised for whatever reason. If the season started with this squad and we scramble about for loanees then it doesn't look good at all so I think Knill needs to start making some final decisions this week and then we can see where we're at.

An established centre back and a big striker are now the minimum requirements asap but like others have said, Knill is well aware of this and i'm sure he'll get these players in and we should keep the faith. A ball hasn't been kicked in anger yet and some are criticising. By all means say if you're not happy or confident with the new additions but until they have failed then we should give them AND Knill our full backing. I'm sure he'll get to know about it soon enough if his signings turn out to be complete jokes.

Martin....I mean Wodger - Unfair to criticise Knill for not being able to get players down here. His signings have been from the Midlands and Sheffield.
Rendell isn't the answer - as I keep saying Luton who can't get out the conference don't want him - nuff said really.
By all accounts two abject performances should presumably mean that his bags have been packed by now.
I am going to Tiverton on Tuesday. If Rendell lines up I would be seriously worried.
I don't see any hysteria here - its just that centre forward and centre half are such crucial positions.
If Knill signs two good players one in each position we have a good squad thats for sure.
Rendell and a short arsed midfielder who can sort of turn his hand to playing at centre half (Cruise anyone!) probably is going to mean we will struggle.

100% agree

Everybody be cool. Rendell, if he signs, won't be first choice. If he gets some meaningful pitch time, he'll be a perfectly decent backup to our prodigiously talented first choice paring. Equally, loanees aren't something upon which we are 'relying', they're about making quality additions to the team without having to spend millions of pounds on transfers and wages to attract players miles beyond our level.
As for the positions to fill, I ask only that we have a little patience (I know, I know, we've given plenty already) and a little faith that Knill knows what he's doing.
