I am very much eagerly anticipating the new season and looking forward to a new brand of football, a brand which is fast flowing, aggressive and entertaining. It doesn't necessarily have to be ultimate winning football but so long as we maintain a respectable league finish then i'll be over the moon. I don't know who is considering a possible promotion push but I wish they'd shut it. Knill has an immensely tough job just assembling a squad to get us competitive and is changing things so we don't all have to turn up to games in expectation of a 'nick none or one then hang' on performance each bloody week and i'd be over the moon with lower to mid table and witnessing some real endeavour and attacking football. Let us be thankful that we have buried the ghost of the demoralising Ling era and have so much more to look forward to. Knill will sort us out so let's stop harbouring unrealistic expectations and heaping extra pressure on the man.

There are some miserable feckers on this site. I really don't know what some people are expecting. Get real and support your bleddy team. We haven't even kicked a ball in anger yet......

Fair do's Steve, if people have negative views on the coming season then let them, I just find it extremely difficult to understand why there would be any at all. Everything is so exciting at the moment and I can't wait.

None of us saw enough of Morris to accurately assess his true ability. That said, there are people here who still don't rate Craig, so their opinion is entirely invalid.

If Posters on here insist on relegating us before a ball iskicked in anger they need therapy. A few days holiday in a padded cell and a jolly good whipping from one or two of our weirder posters who have unusual habits. prefereably with rusty barbed wire. then staked to the center circle while Trojan walks on them in his stilletoes. oops sorry Troj. didn't mean to let the secret out.

If those who are supposedly in the "know" suggest that we are relegation fodder, then fair enough. We have been marked down as that for years now and only twice been in that category. We don't need the pressure.
So let them get on with it, let them have the surprise if and when we climb the league.
Better clubs than us have their own problems.
Bristol Rovers have just lost one of their mainstay players because he broke his leg last week in a pre season freindly.
Our troubles last season were more to do with backroom problems than bad team. It reflects via the team.
We have a settle staff and players this season. A much more positive attitude and most of us have the common sense to let AK and Brassy get on with the job safe in the knowledgew that they do known what they are doing.

I agree with Glostergull (and with Ferrarilover's post on the Tiverton psf thread). People tend to focus, understandably, on individual players, but eleven great players do not necessarily make a great team. There are so many other factors involved. Eleven less-than-great players, with the right attitude, back-up, support, coaching, training, tactics and managerial control, can make a great team. There will be teams this coming season who will be expected to do well, who won't, and there will be unexpected surprises when a team of supposed no-hopers breaks through and makes a serious challenge.

It's impossible to forecast anything at this stage, certainly not from a handful of pre-season friendlies, which are all about preparation for the season ahead. Let's just let the players, manager, and backroom staff get on with their jobs, give them our full support, then see where we are at the end of the year..

Blinking heck. They cant even get the weather right over a 24 hour period, so how the hell anyone can predict the outcome of a football season, a full 9 months before it finishes, (And before it's even started!!!) is way beyond me.

Hi Gull Fans,
Very surprised that so many of you are writing off your chances before a ball is kicked in anger as you have only as far as I can see lost two players which would have been first team regulars in Rene Howe and Brian saah and have signed Dale Tonge, Elliot Benyon, Harding and 2 wingers which I would have said was a weakness in your team last season.
I certainly see you finishing the season above Exeter but Plymouth might be above you as I feel the have mad some good attacking signings. I don't really see you struggling as there are afew teams who have not done a great deal in the summer Accrington, Exeter, Northampton, Southend, Morecombe, York, Dagenham and Bury are all teams that I can see us both being above.
We have started in a similar way to last year and have already lost Brunt, Broghammer, Clarke and Paterson to long term injuries to join Woodards and Clucas n the treatment table. We have had 7 cruciate injuries in the last year!!! John Jo OToole signed today which was a top class signing so in my opinion we have a top 3 side defence and keeper but too many youngsters who are unpredictable.
Think we could scrape Play Offs and wouldn't be at all surprised to see you round the same area as have the feeling that you will still see a couple of signings before your first game.

Should be another good game on Boxing day though not sure we will have such a big following as last season. We sold out of both Exeter ad Newport tickets within 2 hours of going on sale and Plymouth is early on and the first time for years that it is on a Saturday o should be a big following there. Much will depend on how we do.

Thanks Friendlygas. Looking forward to all the local and not-so-local derbies. It'll be a fascinating season, with many ups and downs for most teams before it finally ends, but I can't understand how yours managed to pick up so many injuries. Here's hoping you have better luck in the months ahead.
