Despite the result it was lovely to see that team, containing Gregory Goodridge. That was a great season and marked for me a return to regular attendance, having moved back to Torquay during that season.

I was there. The day out was fine; the game, though, was - for Torquay United - a reflection of the all the teams that have appeared in our colours since the dreadful relegation in 1972. They were o.k., but outclassed by Bolton Wanderers. Didn't Sam Alladici, sorry, Sam Allosaurus - no, Sam Allardyce (I'm getting all mixed up here) play for Bolton on that day?

first time I have watched the Preston game since I was there, what a good footballing side Torquay were and what a bunch of thugs Preston were. As for Raynor a thug and and a cheat. The ref lost it that day, still gutted after all these years.

Loram was sent down - and Bateson was fed up!

Further to my comment on Raynor and having also watched the Preston video, what a dreadful surface that was. Yes, the ref lost it completely and was probably influenced by the hostile crowd. Not many decisions went our way that night and I had a long drive home seething and stewing on the injustice of it all (didn't they lose in the final though?).

At the time of writing this note PNE are on Sky playing at their new stadium, what a difference from the old Deepdale, and how far have the fortunes of the clubs changed since then.

A midfield of Trollope and Buckle with a ball player like ORiordan in behind and an outlet to hold the ball and dribble at the opposition like Goodridge! Blimey - quality, quality players (quietly sobs and rocks backwards and forwards).
