Eunan O'Kane
The £175,000 release clause in his contract with us was the killer. Terrible piece of negotiation.

You don't know that for sure. It could have been a very good piece of negotiation - for all you know he might have wanted a 50k release clause and we negotiated that up.hector wrote:The £175,000 release clause in his contract with us was the killer. Terrible piece of negotiation.

Trouble here is, and the point was missed at the time, and still is being missed, had TUFC not agreed to the £175k release clause, Eunan O'Kane would not have signed a new contract with us, would have gone off to another club at the same level for free who would have agreed the release clause, and our club would now be entitled to 15% of 0 which would = 0.
Granted £40k will not go far, it will not give Nicho a war chest to sign a promotion winning squad, however, by the clubs own admission there are a number of liabilities that need to be paid around January time, £35-40k could turn out to be very, very, in fact very important indeed.

Looks like Eunan will be going to Leeds today. If Twitter is to be believed.

Seem to recall he was pretty 'picky' as to which club he joined when he left us, turning down Crawley for Bournemouth. Absolutely the right choice.
Why Leeds? He could do better than that.

Latest reports are that it's a loan deal, meaning we would get nothing. Not looking like it's the deal we were hoping for... every other player in the division goes for millions, with the exception of the one player we have a stake in.
being suggested a fee on twitter also, some reporting up to £1MGulliball wrote:Latest reports are that it's a loan deal, meaning we would get nothing. Lots of places saying it is now done, a permanent transfer as well after a slight scare earlier. It'll be undisclosed, but as no-one is exactly sure what the percentage is and how much is going to other sources, it wasn't like we were going to get a precise figure anyway. Hopefully it's enough to be a nice bonus, helping us either on or off the pitch.
Leeds is a good move for him I think - they're at a low ebb but a still a better club than Wigan and a few other sides he's been linked with. Realistically he's not a regular Premiership player, but he made it right to the top and no-one can ever take it away from him. He's now got a chance to play regularly at a big second tier side and is still young enough to have a very good club and International career.

Good news, a loan move for Eunan particularly a season long loan would have been a disaster for our club as O'Kane could have gone in the summer for nothing, what ever our club gets, whether it turns out to be, nowhere what we'd all like, will be better in our clubs current position than nothing.

It's only to keep us guessing, as to how much we could receive. If anything it will pay for all away travel and hotels this season. And 2 fingers to GI When we pay back the vultures there loan back.Bleeper wrote:2 Year permanent deal confirmed to Leeds.. I hate undisclosed fees!!!

The talk on twitter and such seems to be that the fee is somewhere around the £1 million pound mark so not as big as we might have hoped but that is the kind of money that could see maybe 2 or 3 new players for nicho!

£1,000,000 - £175,000 = 825,000
15% of which is £123,750
50% goes to Thea leaving £61,875
rumour is that we havent paid GI back and the money owed is looking more towards 100K rather than 50K
who knows what happened to the Gus money!
The Yorkshire papers are reporting that Leeds put in a low bid a while ago and then tried to take him on loan on transfer day. Now that Bournemouth have sold him straight after signing Wiltshire, the fee is likely to be lower that what we might have hoped for. I would guess 500,000.
