Interesting stat WYG . You only have to score 1 goal to win a game. The last two 2-0 home defeats have been
really poor with the goals conceded all too easy for the opposition. Its got to stop today. Lets take one of our
chances this afternoon and win 1-0

Looking back in time and thinking what striker would make a difference. There has to be only one. Paul Dobson was a player who placed with a half chance in the 18 yard box would give you a chance of a goal. So what we need is a goal poacher in all respect than an rounder striker. There must be one in lower leagues we can poach. In all respect to the lower leagues that is , there are some good players about which signing for us is viable in financial terms.

If you believe DevonLive, Rickie Lambert may be about to sign for us - he 'retired' at the age of 35 from Cardiff City recently. Hmmmm, let's hope he's not another Rory Fallon!

Rickie was known as the "Lump'' whilst at WBA, where I believe he only managed to score one goal ........ from a penalty (beautifully taken though): at least Fallon is still in his National squad.

However he has played for England, and Liverpool must have thought he was good enough to play for them. He does put himself about and would give us a much-needed physical presence, lump or not - look at Matt Rhead! He may just be the catalyst to get our season going, in the same way that Keiffer Moore was last season. Incidentally Moore is now the top scorer out of all four top divisions - out of our league in more (Moore?) ways than one!

Just reading up about Rickie Lambert - seems he's a bit of a crock with a lower back degeneration problem, which is why he retired.

He may have put himself about a bit for Liverpool and England but he hasn't done so since. A physical presence he may be but he would block any sight of goal that his team mates may wish for and would make Fallon seem like a greyhound on speed in comparison.

In any case Gary Owers has said he knows nothing about a deal for Lambert. Does make you wonder where Dave Thomas gets his information - he was completely wrong about the managerial appointment as well. A lucky escape if Lambert is yet another crock.

He was literally quoting from the torquay fans facebook page for this story, the most laziest in bed with GI journalist i know.

Apparently a 'trialist striker' scored twice for Torquay this afternoon in the 4-3 defeat against Cheltenham, a match played behind closed doors. The Glloucester Live website was unable to give the striker's name, but Damon Lathrope did score a penalty!

Slight corection to my last post, Damon Lathrope scored from a free kick and 'trialist striker' scored from a penalty. There is a video to watch, showing stills from the game - which don't actually tell us much unless you're a Robins fan!
