Not got a problem with Ling as manager. I wanted Forster but hey ho. I see Ling as someone who can stabilise the club whilst we continue to build off the field with the new stand and the limited playing budget etc. I'm worried about Ling's record at Cambridge. It really was p*ss poor, however I respected him and rated him at Orient. Hoping the assistant manager is good, because Camb fans seem to think he heavily relied on his assistant at Orient.

Is anyone else worried that he might find it very hard to attract players this far south when he has always managed in areas where players have no problem relocating to? Just hope he knows how hard it is to get decent players to move here.

As for his statement on the two players for every position etc i'm pleased with that. I assume he is looking to build a half decent team which will compete to a decent standard, whilst having good depth in the squad. I'm pretty sure that anywhere above the bottom 8 teams would be a real success in the boards eyes and is probably his target.

In my opinion we need:
2 Keepers
1 Right back
1 Centre back (Saah!!?)
1 Right Winger
2 Left Wingers (Surely Macklin will be shipped out somehow!?)
2 Strikers

Manse, Okane, Oastler and Lathrope means we are sorted for centre mids if we get Oastler to sign - unless Ling sees Manse as a RB, in which case we need an experienced CM.
Not sure if Zebs will be seen as a winger or striker. Zebs is the only decent winger at the club, and I think thats where we need to focus bringing in quality.
Codswhallop!

Did you not see Billy Kee in the Playoffs?

I couldn't care less what Cambridge fans think of his time at Orient, in just the same way that I wouldn't take the mind of a baker when considering eye surgery. Let Cambridge fans talk of his time at Cambridge.

Matt.

Isn't this the point YS is making? Unless you think Kee was good on the wing in which case I think you are delusional!

I think ferrari really likes wingers with the pace of a full wheelbarrow of burgers as we have no response yet.

dum de dum de dum.

We NEED a central midfield no matter whether Oastler signs. Lathrope is not ready to play regularly,
and O'Kane is great footballer but needs freedom to play and cannot be expected to play centre mid every week.

Mansell is ok but cant pass and does very well at right back, we need another Craig Stanley type player.

Hopefully Ling can find us some experienced players down the spine of the team and a left footed winger would be great, instead of Stevens(decent sub) and Macklin who arent upto this level

No no, you all need to follow the lead of Shane. It might be the fault of the discreet font, but the word 'see' has been put in italics to make it read with heavy sarcasm.

You've answered your own question Re: Mansell. No, he's not Beckham-esque, but with Eunan beside him, he doesn't need to be. Manse is the leader, the destroyed, the enforcer, he growls at opponents until they wet themselves and hand over possession, then he gives the ball to Eunan who lays one on a plate for the best finisher in L2 (but the worst winger, as we have established) Billy Kee.
Further to this, Manse is a terrible RB, he hates playing there and he gets skinned by wingers with less pace than that geezer who did the marathon in a Victorian diving suit.

There aren't other Craig Stanleys, other than Eunan O'Kane, young Irish fella, forget where he plays, but we should try to get him if we can...

Aside from that, you're spot on, Macklin is absolutely, without doubt, the worst player at the club, all pace and no tekkers what-so-ever.

Matt.

Looking at released players, these would go a long way to solving problems...
(based on performances against us)

Jaimez Ruiz - good keeper
Patrick Ada - quick central defender
Kevin Ellison - physical attacking midfield/forward with goal threat
Marvin Morgan - lanky striker with scoring ability

Can't see any of them coming here, except maybe Ruiz.
