been taking in the awesomeness that is the blues brothers soundtrack. i love the film and the music. legends such as james brown, ray charles, aretha franklin feature on it, as well as the stonking signature tunes from the band fronted by jake (john belushi) and elwood (dan aykroyd) blues.

kick back and enjoy - :)

One of my all time favourites. I once ended up in a coffee shop in Amsterdam looking at a mural of the Blues Brothers and fell off my chair when I looked over to the bar and saw Dan Aykroyd.

thats incredible! i have never seen or met anybody with fame or celebrity of that magnitude, it must be so tempting to speak to them because you almost feel like you know them, but then it must be remembered they are just people and are probably just trying to do normal things and they get bothered all the time.

i have read and heard on various things he is an absolute top, smashing bloke, they always rave about him on the morning show on talksport about his 2 hours on there earlier this year. you never know he might be the approachable, grounded, not too far up his own arse celebrity.

it must have been so surreal to look at the picture then see the man himself. :O

what sort of coffee shop was it?

been listening to another soundtrack that just oozes class from its pores and reeks of awesomeness, ladies and gentlemen put your hands together for the hardest working band in the world - the commitments

an old karaoke special of mine there. hey, i was young and it pulled the chicks.
(i nearly put - hey, i was young and i needed the p*ssy! oh wait, i just did) :~D

i couldnt find a proper clip from the film of try a little tenderness, thats the showstopper, there are various versions here.

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... 11.youtube.

there are clips of the actual singers and musicians from the film that made up the band, some stuff was this year and from a 20th year reunion. cant believe its been 22 years. :-o

i used to watch this film over and over again, they took some brilliant tracks and made them their own, better than some of the originals, and it was only meant to be a small film.

the lead singer andrew strong was meant to become the next big thing at the time, with the popularity of the film and that voice it looked likely, but it never happened, though its nice to see him and the proper band touring.

the boy drew my attention to this after he found it on youtube.

it might not be everyones cup of tea, it usually isnt mine, anybody who touches musical perfection and tries to mess with it deserves a slap of the highest order.

however upon the first listen i was pleasantly surprised, then after a couple of plays, loved this.

it is a win,win situation for me, the best band in the world ever without question, queen, mixed with a track from another huge favorite of mine acdc  and a little bit of led zep and crowded house chucked in. :)

then i found other stuff like this and some is actually quite clever. i always think a lot of so called dj's who take other peoples music and just throw in a few noises, effects and dance beats are parasites, but the imagination in some of this stuff to match and craft together various musical masterpieces to make it fit and go together must take a fair bit of thought and vision. :-D

I did chat with him, well actually I slurred some unfunny sentence or two and he laughed politely and then came out with some of the funniest one liners I've ever heard. He really is a comic genius, that or the cigarette I smoked wasn't just a Benson & Hedges ;-)

A really thoroughly nice guy.
