Nearly a starting XI missing.....Gloomy Gull wrote: ↑09 Feb 2021, 21:39 Shows how much we miss our first team players.
I’m happy to lend Danny my hamstring if that might help!!
And nice touch tbh....
But doubt it!

Given the way that game was going - like Dagenham at home where we could have played for 24hours straight and now scored i will certainly take a point!
Its frustrating how we let ourselves down with the basics, simple passing and set pieces are the biggest!

Dropping points at home to, so called, lesser opposition is frustrating but that’s football. A win away a Woking on Saturday would come in very handy.

Well, if this had been a boxing match the referee would have had to stop it in the second half - we had 6 corners, 15 attempts, 7 shots on target against their 0, 3 and 2. Even in the first half we shaded it 2-1 on corners, 5-4 on attempts and 4-3 on target. Wealdstone were there for the taking tonight but we were just bereft of ideas for much of the game against a team who came for a point and nearly got 3. Overall I think the weather was the winner - the conditions were just too challenging for most of the potentially influential players to make their mark.
If we had lost that one I would have feared for the rest of our season, however, we managed to get something at the death and I hope that we can kick on again when our injuries and suspensions ease and given a period of quieter weather so we can start to play to our strengths again - moving teams around with slick passing and creating better chances for our forwards.

apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but is our physio kai hepworth still with us?
he didn't appear to travel to Southport and i struggled to see if he was on the bench tonight, dont think any of our players needed treatment during the game

We got a point which for periods of the game seemed unlikely, as has been mentioned we were very one sided and Mendy had Whitfield in his pocket for large periods of the game. Out of the amount of shots that peppered the family stand it took a clinical finish along the ground from waters. I thought Umerah had a swagger about him as if his was confident which was good, Other than that no one really covered themselves in glory. If there ae issues within the camp and I am no conspiracy theorist then they need to be sorted and quick, 6 points out of the last 18 is mid table if your lucky not even a play off place. Injuries play a part, but other teams suffer the same, may be not to the extent we do and that might have something to do with the way Johnson likes to play quick end to end football. Was little injured, we were told a week ago that Wynter was ready to come back, Is Moxey injured again. The rest are all long term. Anyone who thinks that Woking will be any easier on Saturday are in for a shock, the way they play they will kick us off the park and we cannot afford anymore on the treatment table.

Have we stopped voting for the top five players or was there a consensus last week that no-one deserved a vote? For what it's worth my five for a mention were:
Randell - kept the ball moving around from centre mid
Hall - provided additional support to win the midfield battle
Waters - a thorn in Wealdstone's side all night and scored a tidy goal
Cameron - regularly spread the ball but unfortunately his go-to partner, Whitfield, was well marshalled by the full back
Umerah - struggled manfully to occupy their centre backs in a way that CLE could not do last week
Louis please move to a new thread if one is set up.

How long are we going to wait for Gary's interview tonight.

This is the messy part of the season for non-league football. National League leaders are notorious for sliding down the table in the last third of the season. The football may never be pretty, but we have to work and grind for every point we can get.

Is Wynter fit to play? CLE should only have a one match ban for five bookings, providing he does not break a toenail, will be back on Saturday.
Need a performance at Woking.
COYY.

It was the sort game where we needed to score first. Quite a few players missing etc etc.
In the end though we deserved the equalizer as it would have been a travesty if we had lost. Ball didn't really drop too kindly for us in the second half. Woodwork, goaline clearances and their keeper flapping about like a madman.

We are treading water - yes, we have had injuries, suspensions from rash challenges, and a loss of team-play and making the best of set pieces.
However, we had more than enough chances to win tonight against another determined but moderate side (and, yes,we should have challenged Mendy instead of letting him get within scoring distance), but yet again our wasteful finishing let us down badly. The wintry weather this year has made for awful conditions for free-flowing football, and nightmare situations for goalkeepers making it difficult to hold a ball. The goalies at our level are not going to catch or stop all opposition efforts, and yet we have consistently been failing to get shots on target and to force the keeper to make saves or interceptions.
And so it was again tonight with countless chances blasted high and wide instead of more controlled attempts; we hit the post with a shot on the deck, we scored by shooting low and getting someone on the end of a rebound.
It's hardly rocket science, so coyy, be more composed and less mindlessly careless in front of goal.

You can over analyse everything. If you watch the highlights of Wealdstones defeat at Darlington, their keeper looked equally as dodgy as he did tonight. On that occasion everything he spilled went into the path of an opposition forward. Tonight it was the opposite.
When he was beaten all ends up the shot hit the post and a defender headed another one off the line. Just as in the Dagenham defeat we should have won easily but nothing really dropped for us in and around the box. The ball dropped to Waters and he finished it well - but that was the only time in the second half anything really dropped to one of our forwards.
As Johnson said in his interview sometimes you need a bit of luck and we probably didn't get it tonight. Contrary to last weeks performance when we deserved to lose, you can't say the same tonight. Not the best performance tonight but on another night we could have won that game easily.

Surely a strategic sneeze from one of our background team could buy us some time to get over this injury crisis. Just saying.
