The guy I'm alluding too was around the time of Andy McFarlane who was also useless, even more frustrating as the season before he signed for us, we got d*cked 8-1 by Scunthorpe and McFarlane sent 4 past us. He then proceeded to invent the "duck/jump" which basically involves jumping up for a header and then ducking at the last minute so it'll go over his head, then winning an Oscar in acting surprised as to how they didn't score.
Sako wasn't a striker. I actually thought you were talking about Carl Priso *shudder*.

Anyway - asked around my MLS peeps about this McManus character, consensus seems to be that he was "ok" - had definite ability but maybe not one to get stuck in and work really hard. He was offered an extension but it would have meant a pay cut. Also, I'd imagine that the MLS central contract would be disquieting to a lot of European players (at least, that's what I've been told by Chris Birchall. The little scamp)

Which is why I wasn't talking about Sako...

Definitely wasn't Carl Priso, well before his time. I was fairly young at the time.

EDIT: Jamie Ndah comes to mind, I know hes not French but his name sounds French!

No argument from me. He still fits the description! =D

As for Sissoko, the only thing i remember about him is when he strode onto the Pop side in a huge white jumper to watch a game. He'd either been left out, or he might even have been released by then.

Would love to see McManus put pen to paper. Just the type of striker you need, whether starting alongside a big man, or coming on when we're chasing the game.

With McManus and Kee, all we would need is a targetman, and we'd have most bases covered up front.

However, at this stage, we have only Kee and a lower league reject on trial, so anything more is just a pipe dream at the moment.

I'm hoping we'll see Kee, McFree and "Tia-wow" supplemented by at least two more "goal getters" before we play Exeter City a week on Wednesday.

And a second goalkeeper.

McManus' time in the States and then Ireland suggests he wasn't in Scotland when Ling was scouting for Hibs. That said, Dave Thomas seems to think we're still looking north of the border, so you never know.

As for McManus himself, it's hard not to be impressed by some of the finishes on the Youtube videos. It is, though, worth noting (as with the Atieno montage) the age of some of the footage. The stunning volley at Ibrox, for instance, is 8 years old.

If there is some truth in Ling pursuing Scottish-based players, I wonder if we might be looking at Falkirk's Jack Compton. I hasten to add this is totally unsubstantiated, but we've had more unlikely targets than a Torquay-born left-winger at a cash-strapped club.

Thing is with DT is, that he could very well simply be surmising that we are looking t'up north, because of the obvious connections.

Matt.

No thanks!

Plus we'd get the bad penny that is our worst ever manager popping up again!
