I still find it tannoy'ing

Having moved away from the area a year or so ago, I've been slightly out of the news loop with Torquay and had only heard vague mentions of this argument. To me, this does sum up us Torquay fans really, we spend so much time and effort complaining about becoming "sky-ified" as someone put it on the first page yet we then complain when Sky don't show us.

Do we want to be a commercial success or stay in the lower leagues forever? We do not have the fanbase to sustain a large squad, high wages and therefore make a push for League One and then keep ourselves there. Because of the lack of crowds, we'd need to get our money from elsewhere, be it through commercialisation of the club and earning monies from media sources or we can not really go anywhere because we cannot afford the better players.

Now, I can't see this being a very popular opinion but it's the lack of ambition and when there is ambition, a lack of know-how to actually see it through that is the reason why Torbay is one of the more run-down areas in the country.

I'm at a loss to understand what playing music after a goal has to do with progressing and generating funds?

Didn't that bloke with the mic say on Saturday that if we got enough money the club were going to put it towards the new grandstand and a better PA system....... if you think you can't hear the music now, wait until they have the system installed.

Its just one part of the commercialisation which gets clubs like us onto TV. If we can't do it in our own back yard, we'll never do it on a wider scale and get ourselves known.

I made a fuss first time round and I stand by my decision, goal music is tacky and has no place at Plainmoor. However, I feel we may be saved from ourselves by our, all but pointless, PA system. It is so knackered that the mucis comes out at barely a whisper, so we drown it out anyway, which is nice.
