Football these days is, as Martin Ling said, a cut-throat business.

Now that Luton have been thrashed by Braintree and pushed out of the playoff places the scene is set for Buckle to turn it round, force the way back into the playoffs and secure promotion at Wembley again

OR

Perhaps not!

Braintree 3 Luton 1.

Titter ye not.

It is the old Buckle magic at work. Lowering expectations.

Trouble is it didn’t wash with the Gasheads, and nor will it with the Hatters. The difference between them and TQ1 is that these are clubs that believe they are underforming sleeping giants.

I wouldn’t give it long before he is found out again.. :red:

To be fair to Buckle he wasn't in charge today. Start laughing on Monday.. ;-)

It was announced he would start on Sunday. I suppose if he can get a win on Monday, fair play to him. Turning around a losing club an' all.

This on the Luton Outlaws Board:

"Players alleged attitude"

Posted by MX on April 7, 2012, 8:03 pm
82.16.213.185

"I'm not ITK but hear from various sources:

AMS - out getting smashed all the while whilst carrying 3 seperate injuries

Keane - drinking too much

Fleetwood - Pea heart (enough said)

Lawless - told a fan today that he cant wait for his contract to be up

Crow - just look at the guy to see how out of shape he is

3 un-named players receiving written warnings over their attitude and conduct.

No wonder we're in the shit state we are and the reason I would get rid of 80% of the squad. Let's hope Buckle kicks some arse."

Buckle is apparently having all the players in tomorrow. Looks like he has a job on his hands..

If Bucks wins on Monday will he be ambitious again?

To be fair, I'd imagine Buckle keeps a very professional squad. I wouldn't see him standing for an alcoholic for long. Unfortunately for him, he'll probably just make them hate him and then it'll be a race for whoever leaves the club first.

Rather than try to change existing players' bad attitudes, it probably looks easier to get rid of dead wood and to bring in your own new players, though implementing that process can bring its own problems, as Bucks found at Bristol Rovers. But he has already said in an interview that he has learnt from that experience, so maybe he will do better at Luton. If he does, he will have earned his money for sure..
