You're arguing with someone who is seeing his son being coached by good keepers as well as someone who had coaching from some of the top Pros the game has seen over the last 40 years.

Yes indeed Dave, whilst I have never played in goal, I have had the benefit of watching Kenny Veysey coach our young keepers, and watch my own lad who opted to train with a specialist goalkeeping acadmey and return to local football where he is playing 20 games a season rather than just 6.

I have been an outfield football coach , and in my time watching the keeper coaching sessions I have learnt a great deal, I have had the oportunity to stand behind a goal a watch a ball fired from a globus ball launcher at 90 mph and see just how little time a keeper would have to react, thats how I can safely say that was indeed far from a routine save from Pokey, as I am sure most others know.

The key for me is to look at how fast the ball was traveling and at what point Pokeys hand connects with the ball and then just watch how far over the bar that ball goes, if that had been Joe Hart match of the day would have done a feature on it.

I have to agree with Southampton. I replayed this save 3 times. It was not routine and in my book was outstanding and a match winner.

Both great guys. Bevan better than both in my opinion. But bobby the best by a country mile. Best keeper I have ever seen for us in my 50 years as a fan.

Bevan surprised me how many times he would be beaten from shots in the top areas of the goals for such a tall man with long arms but the jury is out for me whether or not he is better than Poke. I'll need to see Pokey a lot more times before i can even begin to compare but his shot stopping capabilities are up there. He flaps at crosses and things though and doesn't inspire confidence sometimes. Agree with Tim about Bobby, i've only been a Gulls fan for 7 years but he is by a country mile the best keeper i've seen at the club. He threw himself about, was a man mountain really and really inspired his defenders and, as i've said before HE WAS AUSTRIAN! See, we do have some good things come out of the place. Bobby and Schnitzel!

Torquay Tim, having been a supporter for 50 years, will therefore remember TUFC's best ever 'keeper: Terry Adlington. Olejnik was good, yes, but better than Adlington?

john turner, mike mahoney, to put two more quality keepers in, i would prefer pokey to bevan any day.

If we are talking Great keepers who played for us in the 60's we had Three brilliant keepers following Terry, first towards the end of our promotion year after Terry was injured we had Gary Mc Guire , who was brilliant but " fell out with Frank " , then there were two other great keepers Andy Donnelly & John Dunn, yes we were sure blessed with outstanding keepers over this period....

I'm all for respecting the oppo, especially in the FA Cup, which is truly the Devil's plaything, but this might not be a bad idea. With the best will in the world, are Harrogate really going to be THAT much better than the reserve sides against whom Ricey so often looks totally untroubled (and that's with the reserve outfield ten in front of him)?

We won't, of course, and really, we shouldn't, but if ever there were a match where I wouldn't be deeply concerned by Pokey's absence, this would be it.
