Why no Downes?!! Even with Damon in there, Newport are a big strong physical team, and could really bully us today if we are not careful.

I don't think Newport are as good as everyone is making out - think they have got a couple of forwards out injured as well. Was thinking of going today as I quite fancied us - but with Cruise at centre half don't think I will bothered.
I am not sure about one up front though - we are bound to concede so thought we would need to score two or three in this game to get anything.

Unexpected atrocious weather conditions in Torbay-thunder storms and torrential rain-would probably struggle to get game on if it was at Plainmoor.
Is it as bad in Wales?

that is exactly the team i would have gone for with downes injured, either ball or hawley. every man needs to do their bit today and when they get the ball they need to keep it, today is not a day for playing hoofball and constantly giving the ball back to the opposition so we can be attacked. today is a day for some smart tactics and football intelligence.
if the ball is kept better and it stays up the pitch more they wont have to worry too much about who is playing in defence. but its football, its torquay united and things dont work like that.

It's not the best here in Newport cloudy and showery rain, it makes an incredibly grim place look grimmer.

Paul Scholes and a few other coaches from the Manchester United Football Academy were visiting the Ivybridge Community College Football Academy. Wayne Carlisle was running things there having taken over from Sean McCarthy, but not sure if he is still there. It is apparently the first time that Manchester United have linked up with a school outside of the city of Manchester.
Just watched a link to the Spotlight programme. As much as I am incredibly jealous that they all got to meet Paul Scholes and I didn't while I was there, what a fantastic opportunity for the lads. They get to go to Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground too. Maybe we'll have a few more players to add to the Devon XI soon.

But I still have a good feeling that we won't just lie down and get battered just because Downes is out. I think Cruise will cope just fine. We may give away a sloppy goal or two, but with Lathrope sitting, we may find that a new system suits us. Who knows!
2.0 Newport...
i was thinking this myself. downes is the one player out of all of them that i would not want to lose, but i made a comment a few weeks ago asking will it take some injuries for knill to actually change things up a bit. a new and flexible formation and a few changes and who knows what might happen.
im not hopeful about today but fingers crossed, stay positive. prediction - 1-1 (bodin).

I'm still confident, I feel this could be Nico's best game in a while, he's a fighter and this is his chance before a possible loan CB signing.

Good tester after last weeks confidence booster. Hope Chappell is still on fire.
