going to play Devil's Advocat though, if we wait until it's proven he's not up the job then what chance does that give a new man? after February so after most transfer business is done and all that's left is the emergency loan window?, basically if we are in dire straits then we've little to no chance of getting out of it. do we wait out of sheer bloody mindedness to say no we will see this out and risk our league status?

Because we support a smaller club to Man Utd does that then forfeit the right to ask questions or raise concerns about something to do with the club we support? Is there not threads on players and their individual merits or flaws? does the manager avoid the same scrutiny?

My concerns have been from day 1 with Knill, you appoint someone whose managerial career in the main has been a losing record I suppose you can't then be surprised that your team loses most weeks. The team selections, use of the loans and also budget has been bizarre to say the least but it's signs of a desperate man/team when you get such inconsistency.

the only thing that is giving me some kind of hope is I feel on paper we have a stronger collection of players than we did last year, whether they will be used correctly and got the best out of I strongly doubt. The evidence so far isn't too good.
Wrong! We have just sacked a manager that spent part of last season "on the sick"........Oh I forgot! he as sacked for "footballing reasons" The board will not be afraid to act when the time is right I.M.O.

Ling's position was untenable to be honest. We had bad runs under both him and Buckle and both were backed by the board for as long as possible.

We will never know for certain why Ling was sacked but having not been there for half a season he was never going to come back to the job.

He was not given a chance to return to the club after the doctor signed him off.

Interesting article - seems that he has courted fans frustrations at other clubs he has been at:

Not insinuating anything, just interesting to read previous experiences

Like it! You can visualise it, around their cauldron on the green by the pool. Only in the interests of being proved right, of course.

I know it's a minor inconvenience and very unfair, but unfortunately the league table doesn't see beyond the final score. Hopefully, last Saturday's game played with more pace and energy will be the spark that gets our season going.

Is Britain the only place in the world that embraces "losers"?

Where else would it be applauded if somebody (or a team) lost, yet "did well"?!

I don't understand it myself.

I'm not saying we should all suddenly round on people/teams for losing, but neither should they be applauded for "nearly winning" (or losing in other words) - or am I being unduly harsh?

No, in football, the league table does not allow for "near misses, bad luck,& well played"

Absolutely. Any manager that loses a couple of games should be fired. As should any paper boy that misses an address, any shop worker who's till is 10p short and any waiter that spills a glass of wine. Nobody should be cut any slack or afforded any patience.

I'd hate to work for any of you lot.

Matt.
Whilst a similar limiting factor is your inability to see that results matter and performances ultimately do not. The point of football is to win games. Not to flatter to deceive - which is what you advocate.
