we seem to win when I don't go to plainmoor. great excuse for me not to be there Tuesday night!

Not too sure what anybody expected sacking an experienced manager in a relegation situation and then not replacing like with like.

At least he is doing well in his new job and must be laughing his socks off!

Would have been on 45 points now if he had stayed. Too late now though.

Oh well. Everybody including our Board with no professional football experience whatsoever knew best. Wonder how many will remember this in 10 years time when we kick off our league season away to Tiverton Town. There probably will not be a single person admitting that they supported the worst decision ever made by the Board of a professional football club.

Still .... life goes on! Up and at 'em next 2 home games and we could be on 39 points only about 5 points from safety with 8 games to go. Scary eh?

i think the point hes trying to make is that we would have had a better chance with a manager who had league experience - ie flitcroft....

some plank on here said that bury would go down - yeah right.

Under Knill, we bagged 22 points from 24 games - an average of 0.92 per game. From Hargreaves' 11 matches in charge, we have collected 10 points - an average of 0.91. So near-identical records but both equally depressing.

What does this tell us? Well our most successful manager this season has been Harrop, who remains unbeaten with an average return of one point per game - better than both Knill and Hargreaves (would insert wink but on phone).

No chance in the world would we now be on 45 points if still under the motivational leadership of Knill

So Stefano, the facts you have been quoted still seem unable to dissuade you that the man who put us in this mess was no more successful than his successor. On the basis of Knill's performance, there is absolutely nothing to suggest we would be up there on 45 points.

Plus - you seem to be giving all the credit for Northampton's 'revival' to Knill. Again, you overlook the role being played by the bloke they actually appointed manager, rather than the one who sets out the cones.

I said that we required a manager with league experience - obviously not Knill seeing as he was fired by the board.

Drinking is the only way to get through this season........

Well spotted .... although I was a little disappointed this week as it took Hector 4 hours and 44 minutes to respond. Normally he is rattling off an indignant reply before I have even posted!

Your mention of Mr Harrop and his record was a good one, and is a good indication of how meaningless statistics are. It is a bit of a misnomer that he was manager anyway, as at twenty minutes to three that day he was in the restaurant shaking hands with sponsors, so I think that day we just let the players get on with it.

Too late, the fat lady's clearing her throat. Need at least 5 wins from the last 10, and that doesn't look even remotely likely.

Southport/Chester fighting relegation. Altrincham just inside playoff spot in Conf north. So let's hope the 1st two stay up and the latter go up. I hate Altrincham it's a horrid away end.

After the Bury game at Plainmoor we play the following teams:

Newport (H), York (A), Southend (A), Scunthorpe (H), Bristol Rovers (A), Dagenham & R. (H), Exeter (A), Mansfield (A), and Wycombe (H).

On our day we are capable of beating any of these teams, even Scunthorpe (given that we beat Rochdale who are also in the top three). Most of the other teams we must play are also looking nervously over their shoulders. And it could be that wins in any of our last three games could send opposing clubs down.

So it's certainly still possible for us to win enough games for us to stay in League Two. But the big question is, do we have the bottle, do we (players and supporters) want it enough, do we have enough guts and energy and fighting spirit? Or are we (players and supporters) going to give up too easily and waste our energies in whinging and looking around for somebody else to blame?

We could do that, and meekly resign ourselves to relegation, or: NEVER GIVE UP...!!!
