Sounds like an attempt to put pressure on the council/move it away from ourselves. Fingers crossed it falls through asap and we can move on with an actual search for new investment.

Fingers crossed it falls through, would rather watch a team several leagues below at Plainmoor than some Crawley esque souless stadium (if you could call it a stadium) where presumably we'd be fighting with a £arm behind our back due to high rents as we'd be up against the wall with nowhere to go.

This GI lot have zero interest in the football.

I wrote (politely !) to David Phillips a few days ago to express my grave concerns about the future of the club if we get into the tentacles of Clarke Osborne, Gaming International and their subsidiary companies. Can I suggest that other fans who are concerned do the same?

This talk of a new stadium is exactly the scenario that has happened over and over again elsewhere. IF the new stadium goes ahead, there must be an insistence that it is completed and ready for use before Plainmoor is closed/re-developed and there must be a watertight clause about the rental the club will be expected to pay because excessive rent could also bring the club down.

Probably better directed at the Mayor / Council

One month, roughly, to go before this season kicks off, and all Kev's hard work could be wiped out in a matter of days.

Still no idea who will purchase the club, with the current buyers only willing to buy if they can sell the ground. Current owners have no money.

What a **** shambles.

What was it? 15 years of Mike Bateson? Never spending any cash, no budget for players but always in the black. Since then? 10 years of spend spend spend, no planning for the future and we end here. Kicked out of Plainmoor with no where to go.

There is a very simple solution to this proposed deal and the solution rests with Torbay Borough Council.

They issue a brief Statement that they are NOT prepared to sell the Freehold of Plainmoor.End of story and good bye to Gaming International.

The Board then seeks a new buyer who is interested in Football. Simples.

To be the Club that we want to be, and thrive in the League, we need a new home that can provide the facilities for our supporters, and the commercial revenues necessary for the Club to flourish in the next 25 years. We have the opportunity to achieve this, and we hope that our supporters will get behind the Club to help get us over the line.
David Phillips

Struggling to get behind Mr Phillips on this one and a move away from Plainmoot esp with these people give there history.
It's always going to be sentimental esp given Mr Bristows Bench and his wife's subsequent support that will all effectively evapourate with a bulldozer.

The ground is perfectly adequate enough to home football at this level.

Surely he means that a new ground is necessary to provide GI with the revenues necessary for them to flourish at our expense.

How might we put pressure on the council that it's maybe not in their best electoral interests?

You should always be careful what you wish for and whilst everybody slated Bateson, wouldn't we all love a tightwad like him in charge right now?

I think Phillips is desperate to push this deal through because it's his retirement fund and he wants to make a quick buck and bugger off.

Torbay Council need to say no to any deal with GI, send them packing and lets lick our wounds and bolt down the hatches for another year of survival.

Plainmoor is perfectly adequate for Conference and L2 football. There is no point having a shiny new stadium if the local population couldn't give a shit about the club. Just ask Darlington.

After today's utterances from David Phillips, you're right. Those of us who have major concerns about Gaming International - sorry, Riviera Stadia Ltd - should let Torbay Council and the Mayor know what we think. The more letters and emails that are sent, the more Council members will take notice.

Mr Phillips has recently said that there is a Plan B and now he's saying that Peter Masters, who we thought was probably 'Plan B', isn't involved. Curiouser and curiouser as someone has already posted. :(

Those who may strongly want or not want to see Plainmoor handed over to Gaming International can email their thoughts to the mayor Gordon Oliver:
