Zebs he'll definitely want, Stanners and Branno he'll go for but not so sure on Eunan. He's a quality player but I don't think he really fits into Buckle's teams.

Fonda wrote:If he is on a rolling contract, he always effectively has a year to run - which would mean (i assume) Rovers would have to pay us whatever Bucks salary is for a year? I've seen suggestion that his contract expires in October though - so isn't 'rolling' at all.

As for who he'd take, i imagine he'd be looking at those players out of contract - starting with Stanners and Branno. The only two players he might try and poach from us are Zebs and Eunan. He hasn't picked Ellis nearly regularly enough to think he rates him as highly as some do.
It isn't quite as simple as that Fonda, compensation for Bucks' will be negotiated/argued between the two clubs, it isn't necessarily a year of Bucks' salary, in reality we'd probably get about half that.
A little bit like when you pay up a players contract, they are free to earn an income elsewhere but the club would normally offer a % of the money he would have earnt - not normally 100%.
The rolling contract is more to protect the emloyee/employer...

A "Rolling Contract" still has an end date. All it means is that PB signed a contract for a period of more than 1 year and this is reviewed annually, or until either party ends the contract.

It is good for PB as it gives him the right to a years salary should he be sent packing which gives him far greater security, especially in a world as crazy as football management (where I believe he is in the 10 longest serving football league managers?)

It is good for TUFC in the main because as it gives PB extra security he is less likely to jump at the chance of a better offer from another club, mearly based on salary. Any club coming in for PB would have to discuss their intent to TUFC (although this rarely happens initially in football from what I understand). This gives TUFC a chance to make things a little bit more awkward for the new club, unless of course they settle by paying Torquay a bit of money to compensate their loss.

I saw the headline, "DANNY DEPARTS" and punched the air with a resounding YES

Then I read on and realise it isn't the hobbit called STEVENS. :( :'( :(

Looking at available keepers on the list that *might* be interested in coming here

Nathan Abbey
Joe Anyon
Johnny Brain
Simon Brown
Jake Cole
Steve Collis
Lance Cronin
John Danby
Rhys Evans
Owain fon Williams
Shane Higgs
Paul Jones
Alan Julian
Lenny Pidgeley
Jon Stewart

Reasonable list of lower league keepers there, 1 or 2 i wouldn't mind.

Jake Cole would be an excellent signing, he's always impressed me when playing at Plainmoor. Having been at Barnet he shouldn't be out of our price range either. But there's no point speculating on who's avaliable now as we're not going to have a manager until well into next week.

Is Higgs ex Cheltenham? He'd be an excellent signing.

Yeah been released by Leeds, ex Cheltenham 34 now so probably after a move to be 1st choice for a couple of years.

Paul Jones or Jake Cole would be my choice, I'd also sign Alan Julian and play him in away matches only

I'd happily have him as first choice here and maybe get a loanee in for back up. Unless we can get Poke again...
