Unfortunately this is what happens in football ! What players say and what players do are often entirely different things.

No doubt Simon Baker - being the honourable sort of guy that he is - expected the decency of being given the news of SBs move by the player himself instead of (quite possibly) finding the news out via the Bristol Rovers website!!! The reality is though that Bevan is a free agent and can sign for whoever he likes and that is what he's done.

Rather worryingly it seems as though Baker himself realised that Bevan felt our offer was a bit of a slap in the face (perhaps given the season he has had he expected better?) and so it shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise to him surely.

Does also confirm Branston won't be staying. He has not been offered a contract

Now this to me raises more questions.

Simon Baker states that, although out of contract at the end of June, Bevan was on the club's retained list and had been offered slightly improved terms.

Therefore, where does this leave Branston?

Is he on the retained list? Has he been offered 'slightly improved' terms, even though he has stated on Twitter that he has not heard from the club. Has Branston not been retained?

If not, why not?

reading between the lines here a bit, but on the rovers post, it says something along the lines of "buckle was keen to bring Bevan to the Mem with him" so possibly another done deal from weeks ago.

i questioned on another thread the honesty of players, and the way they've been tweeting that the club have not been in touch with them, and suggested that players would look to blame the club for their exits, rather than tell the fans they wanted to go (for more money etc etc.). These players might well be "decent blokes" etc etc, but as we all know there isn't a lot of loyalty in football any more, but some common courtesy to their employers and the fans wouldn't go a miss.

Err yes ... it's just that TUFC were the last to know about it!

How much of a rise does Bevan expect then? Torquay aren't run by billionaires so he's not gunna have a massive rise. An improved offer is an improved offer. He would be getting more than he had last year for sure.

With Buckle agreeing to be BRFC manager before the season ended & now with our no.1 GK not even bothering to tell the club what he was doing is yet another kick in the teeth.

Don't people actually have the decency to remain professional & respectful these days? Good riddance to both of them.

The advantage that BRFC have though is that Paul Buckle would know exactly what wages Scott Bevan was on and he would probably have a pretty good idea of what sort of new terms he could expect from us as well. With a far bigger budget to play with at BRFC Paul Buckle would only need to increase his wages by a few quid and perhaps add a year on his contract to get his man. Job done.

Well you could not make this sh@t up could you,our club is fast turning into a soap opera, and Simon Baker's all time favorite pop song is still,

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

To be honest,i think this highten's the need for a swift manager appointment ,so we can see some control back over the playing side of our club.

Nothing illegal about it Dave.

He has less than a month left on his current deal, which allow's other clubs to negotiate with him without the knowledge of Torquay United.

It makes sense as to why he has been signed now, instead of last week when Buckle first arrived here.

I agree with you that Bevan should have let his current employers know that he has been in talks with us,that would have been the decent thing to do, and indeed would have been common courtesy, but Bristol Rovers have not done anything underhand or illegal.
