The problem was the way it was done FG.

There was, apparently (according to reports from people who live in the area) no rain on Tuesday that would have caused the club to schedule an emergency pitch inspection. Indeed, according to reports from Lincoln, they had been told that there were no issues.

There was NO announcement that there was to be a pitch inspection - just the postponement announcement out of the blue. It not only caught Torquay fans off guard, but the entire Lincoln travelling party.

It's the seemingly amateur way it was done that grates.

That, as well as the fact that, for a club that hasn't got a pot to piss in, we are going to have to compensate Lincoln one would imagine - so more money pissed up the wall.

Not good.
Not good at all.

Can't really see what the problem is if the game is called off 8 hours before kick off

It's all very well for the Bristol clubs, as they are 100 miles further up the road than we are, People travelling to,or from Torquay, Plymouth & Exeter need a lot more than 8 hours notice of a postponed game. For Torquay's games at Grimsby, Lincoln, & Gateshead the best plan is to travel up on friday, & back on Sunday morning, so this involves hotel bookings. Eight hours is no good at all!

the announcement went on the OS just after 14.20; according to a poster on another forum, tickets were being sold at midday with no mention of any potential problems. As Scott says, nobody would argue with the postponement itself.

Who would buy a ticket for a Tuesday game, were we expecting large numbers of supporters?
Great decision to cancel the game, executed with all the grace of a conference club.

Tuesday's been and gone. As a long distance supporter from Berkshire I would hope that if there is any doubt about Saturday's match the club will be up front and let us know in good time.

The club officials can't keep anyone happy I thought it a great decision as it meant the pitch would be kept in good shape for the rest of the season. If you've seen the forecast for Saturdays game it could be off as well. This is the time of the year to look after your pitches. The referee made the right decision perhaps it could have been made earlier.
Perhaps the referee thought the pitch would recover and made a second pitch inspection as there was a doubt on the day.
