This is not a rant just a deflated statement of resignation. The NHS are claimed to be at breaking point and family doctors are no longer guaranteeing the safety of patients due to the lack of funds and increase in patient numbers.

Last year the Government saw fit to spend billions of pounds so we could see some blokes rowing a boat and some people run and throw things. It was called the Olympic legacy.

I happen to the think the REAL Olympic legacy was allowing tax paying UK citizens to die in hospitals and to suffer due to overworked health workers. So a few more kids might have found the swimming events interesting and have took up the sport, i'd rather have saved someones life than facilitated a child to go swimming where that child could have gone swimming at any time before the Olympics as public baths have always been available.

Wouldn't we all have been rocked and out on our feet in amazement and pride in our Government if they agreed to scrap the Olympics so they could address a more serious issue of peoples lives. I think that decision would have made Cameron an unbelievable leader to make such a strong statement regardless of inconvenience to the world. The UK and it's citizens must come first before anything else and Cameron decided we weren't valuable enough.

Long may he suffer misfortune.

Motorways: middle lanes! :@

When the first motorways were opened the general public was told that there was a slow lane, a faster lane, and an outside (overtaking) lane. These days, the slow lanes are nearly always full, and in busy periods all lanes are full and driving almost at a standstill. So if you're going at any reasonable speed you are forced to drive almost continuously in the middle lane.

Now, under new laws, middle lane 'hoggers' can be fined and have points put on their licences. Be under no illusion. From now on, if you drive at any time in the middle lane you will be at risk under this oppressive and tyrannical law which has been brought in solely to raise money for the government.

Can somebody tell me, despite the increase in traffic volumes, what the hell is wrong with driving in the middle lane? It was allowed in the early days of motorways. Why not now? This must be solely for robbing drivers of more cash!!

Get out of the middle lane you **** ing idiot. It's to be used when overtaking stuff on the inside lane, not just for trundling down as and when you feel like it. Keep left unless overtaking, it's a simple rule, follow it. **** me, how hard can you people make something as simple as motorway driving.

It won't be as you describe at all, for two bloody good reasons. Firstly, there are about 4 policemen left patrolling the motorways of England and secondly, because driving down the middle lane when there is no need is ALREADY an offence. It is a classic example of driving without due care and attention and I have never heard of anyone prosecuted for such a thing.

Matt.

But if the inside lane is full all the way with slow-moving traffic, there's no choice but to use the middle lane all the way, and you won't get in anybody's way because the outside lane is still there for overtaking.

And anyway, nobody gets in my way, because I never drive above 40mph! :na:

i understand if someone is playing the music at stoopid o'clock or constantly at obnoxious volume that you may not like it. sh1te, tripe and overrated though? most definitely not.

queen greatest hits is the highest selling album in the uk of all time. number 1. platinum x 11
greatest hits 2 is the number 10 highest selling album of all time. platinum x 8
the only band/group to be in the top 10 twice.

As of 2005, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Queen albums have spent a total of 1,322 weeks (twenty-six years) on the UK Album Charts, more time than any other musical act.

The band have released a total of eighteen number one albums, eighteen number one singles, and ten number one DVDs worldwide,

album sales worldwide topping 300million +

the band are constantly in the top ten of highest selling worldwide music artists of all time, the position varies on sales.

when touring the band played more countries and continents than any other.
the band were the first, before anybody else to play in many countries and cities in south america, africa and eastern europe.

held the world record for many years for the highest attended concert.in rio,The "Cidade do Rock" (City of Rock), the place where the event was held drew an estimated 300 thousand people +. twice on 2 different nights.

Queen were the biggest stadium rock band in the world, and their performance at 1985's Live Aid is regarded as one of the greatest in rock history.

sh1te, tripe and overrated i think not.but if played too often or at an inconsiderate hour then yes you should politely tell the neighbours to switch it off.or if that doesnt work offer to shove the CD where the sun dont shine.

freddie would have approved of that.
In all honesty ChunkyGull, I don't give a flying how you or anyone else thinks how great Queen were or how many albums/singles/CDs blah blah they have sold. Some of their very early stuff was quite innovative, but the 'popular' anthem stuff is quite frankly utter tosh.
We will rock you?
We are the champions? :scarf:
Radio Ga Ga ffs?
Repetative rubbish for the Sun reading masses to wave their hands and clap to. I could write better songs while taking a dump.

Completely wrong, the lanes were always as they are now, that is inside lane (that everyone should drive on) and two overtaking lanes. As for the inside lane being full of slow moving traffic, you don't drive often on the motorways do you? (I've done 1000s miles doing airport transfers). The inside lane is 99% of the time I'm on the motorway the least populated, with the outside OVERTAKING ONLY lane quite often nose to tail with cars doing 70mph+ driven by complete tools who only use the correct inside lane for about 50 yards as they exit at their junction.
Its no coincidence that the vast majority of pile ups are in the outside lane, and numpties who sit in the middle lane are the cause of this as they WILL NOT pull in thus allowing the other numpties in the outside lane to pull in as well.
The way to get around this would be to allow undertaking, (which I think is allowed in the USA)then watch the middle lane morons move over to where they should have been in the first place.
Gercha :slap:

You yourself have highlighted the real problem: cars being driven in the outside lane in excess of 70mph (and often above 100mph). If there's a long line of traffic in the slow lane (in my experience there often is) going at (say) 50mph, which causes you to drive in the middle lane, that cannot be regarded as hogging the middle lane. And if you're driving there at 70mph, then nobody, except for emergency vehicles, should be using the outside (overtaking) lane, since the speed limit is 70mph.

There may well be a case, as you say, for allowing undertaking. But the real problem is bad and inconsiderate driving, and driving in the middle lane does not in itself constitute such driving. There are always other factors to be taken into account. I have always held the view that people should be required to re-take the driving test every ten years, but that's a different issue...

Normally agree with most of your posts but the middle lane is no different to the outside lane in that it IS an overtaking lane. Unfortunately it is rarely used as such and now the morons are doing the same in the outside lane, sticking there for miles rather than use the bloody road properly.

Drives for miles down the middle lane, sees speed limits as absolutes, yup, starting to get an idea of what sort of driver Scorer is. He's a lovely chap, well read and articulate, but he's a menace and a danger on the road.

Personally, I will spend pretty much all my time on the motorway driving at around 80mph. I find it gets me out the way of the idiots who drive in the slower lanes, often those who do abide by the rules of lanes, but in the process break every other rule in the book by changing lanes without signalling or worse, just pulling out without looking.

The whole point of the middle lane is for you to overtake the slower moving traffic in the left lane, so if you're overtaking a long line of traffic, you are fine sitting in the middle lane. The point of this ruling is to stop people sitting in the middle lane when the left lane is clear, thereby reducing the motorway to 2 lanes rather than 3.
