See what your saying Dave but, some who attend for the first time and don't feel safe in the safest of areas and the club let that happen willingly, probably wont attend again. The Rovers fan I saw leave left of his own accord from the family stand, make of that what you will perhaps he didn't feel safe? But yes time to move on, where is the club apology btw?

Just back home after very enjoyable weekend.

I saw nothing to complain at re policing. There was a very visible presence in the ground and town, but from the moment an officer said hello when I got off the train at Torre, I found them friendly and not overbearing. There were no horses, dogs, riot gear and helicopters that other forces might have used.

It didn't bother me that there were away fans in home areas. So what if they were taunting Torquay fans that we were going down - that's part of watching football.

What has the game come to if we can't stand or sit next to supporters of the other side?

Quite a few of us did it at Colchester for the relegation game there and we weren't chucked out. My view is that the police and club got it right in not ejecting away fans simply for being in home areas.

Big respect to Mr Candy for taking the time out to respond to some of the points raised on this thread.

This open dialogue with the club is refreshing and can only strengthen links between the fans and club.

I agree it is now time to move on, he has explained things from the clubs perspective and alluded to the fact that they are looking to learn from yesterday, we can't really ask for much more.

Agree 100% - so often it is over zealous police & stewards who make problems worse. It was right not to intervene yesterday.

I brought a young lad (local) aged 16 in who was disappointed with the home atmosphere - we need to take this on board - he won't be returning! Sad. He is also a promising local footballer with Bovey - has played for EC youth and Devon U16's. I know that comparatively yesterday's atmos was good but i am relaying what he told me......

What would have happened to me if I did this in the Blackthorn End if the tables were turned? Would it have been harmless banter then? I doubt it.

I would expect to be ejected. Having said that if you were in threat of going down I wouldn't have sung/celebrated out of respect.

The atmosphere was rubbish from us. The singers did a good job leading up to kick off but wore themselves out as the game started, then some went down near the away end and killed whatever little atmosphere there was. One of the reasons why I enjoy the away games more than the home games.

Friendlygas - you can chant what you like as long as you are in your own end. If you seriously cannot see anything wrong with your last post you must be a complete moron.

well rn best these people watch the overpaid premier teams on tv, cant make em watch if they dont want, glad we all dont think this way, anyway thats me done on the subject. bye for now, enjoy your summer, lets hope for better next season, and hope we dont play the gas on the 1st game or last game of the season. time to put my hloiday hat on!!! :na:

Look I see both sides here, it was dissappointing to see Rovers fans standing up chanting and celebrating goals in Bristows bench, I really did not have a problem with Rovers fans being in the home ends, but there should be some respect for the fact of were you are, as said if TUFC fans were in the Blackthorn or seats for that matter and started chanting, we wouldn't be stood up for to long would we.

That said when it comes to goading, please lets not play the victims, I hate that, Hereford away remember it, last game of last season they were relegated, and what did some of our fans do ? Huh chant 'going down' whats good for the goose, is good for the gander.

In all honesty you would have to be a complete idiot to go into the Blackthorn at a big game, you wouldn't need to be ejected - probably carried out! I don't condone it but that is the truth. I also feel that our police /stewards would not deal with any problems as well as your Police/Stewards did. Not at all proud of it but Portsmouth supporters coming to our ground and trying to get in our end is a different proposition to our supporters going in your Home end. This unfortunately is where we are a "Big Club" and not a small friendly club like yours.

I agree F/GAS , Porstmouth will pose a different problem for our club. And some do need to man up, however you can't rightly say you would be stupid to go the Blackthorn and then be happy that your own fans went in our ends.

As said I had no problem with the gas being in our ends, there were plently in there last season difference there was no grandstand and the timing was a factor aswell, having 2 wescountry teams playing each other down in Torquay on the last day of the season was allways going to attract a lot of fans from both sides, really poor timing.

Ok friendly think you've exhausted the point now like most have said time to move on. Fair play to you though your the first away supporter to come on here giving large after a draw lol
