I was told that the Bromley squad cost a million to put together; they're certainly getting results at the moment. Wonder why they put Dan in goal today ? This match destroyed him, so well done for that, unless Fabian's carrying an injury. The gardener's not coming back. Wonder if Cox's new appointment will be announced on Monday or Tuesday ? Much nearer to his home; some say Halifax, others are saying Port Vale .

Great management.. replace Spiess after a good performance Tuesday... great confidence booster.. put lavercombe in.. get battered wth 7 goals..... well done to everyone wanting Dan in... Edwards fell to your pressure... now you got 2 goalkeepers down on confidence... great man management... not..... 4 posts for motm on Tuesday.. Spiess was mentioned in all... what do we do next game... drop him... ?????? Feel gutted for both our keepers... hope they are both strong enough to cope with the idiots making these decisions and those in the crowd supporting such decisions. ... gulls KTF
There’s not too much you can say about today’s game, the score line says it all. I was hoping after Cox’s departure for some sort of lift today, who knows sometimes a shuffle around can help. But after taking an early lead our defence just weakly surrendered and made Bromley look like Barcelona. I believe we were playing 4-4-2 with MacDonald right back and Smith pairing Exodus in central defence. But whatever formation we were playing the defence stood off and were carved apart. I’m afraid it was a rude awakening for Lavercombe in goal, despite a couple of decent saves, his inexperience was exposed. Crowd a worrying 1,600, 100+ from Bromley, sponsors MOTM Smith.
Let’s at least start with some positives on a bleak day. I was really impressed with Marsh in attack scoring 2 opportunist goals, something I have not seen from any of our strikers all season. He’s pretty nippy and showed good awareness for his goals. Murombedzi came on the left wing late in the second half and has some lovely pace and skill. Ironically going forward today we looked better than previous matches I’ve seen us this season. We linked play well at times and built up moves with more imagination than previous matches. I suppose 3 goals is a good return.
But and it’s a huge but, where was our defence today? You could argue they did not get much protection from midfield but the basics of closing down was not being done, MacDonald at right back being the worst culprit. After taking an early lead from a lovely headed goal by Hurst from a free-kick, our defence handed the game to Bromley. MacDonald was slow in closing down for their first and Ademola finished neatly. Bromley’s 2nd. goal was nightmare defending on our near post from a corner. There was a right old scramble, no-one cleared and the ball was poked in at close range. Bromley’s 3rd. was more embarrassing. I’ve never seen a Torquay defence toyed with on the edge of our box. There were a few clever passes until a shot was curled in. Lavercombe made a decent parried save and Marsh latched on to a Hurst shot in added time to make it 2-3 half-time.
At half-time I asked people around me to guess the full-time score, I predicted 2-4. The other comment at half-time was that Deano and Ramshaw did not appear to be working together in the dug-out, they were stood far apart. It’s made me even wonder now, who was in charge today? Surely it should have been Ramshaw. The arrangement certainly did not work today and needs to change for Tuesday.
Torquay started the 2nd. half quite positively as Bromley seemed content to contain and waste a bit of time. Their 4th. goal really finished us off. From the opposite end we felt Lavercombe could have done better in cutting out a low cross that was tapped in at the far post. The collapse was gaining momentum. Bromley’s 5th. was an embarrassment . A free-kick as given on the edge of the penalty area in a central position. Lavercombe positioned himself too far too one side of his goal and left a huge gap on the other side of the goal. If the Bromley player could chip the ball over the wall into this vacant side of the goal there was no cover. From the opposite end you just knew it would happen and it did.
Goal 6 was a penalty after a player was clipped in the box and goal 7 our defence was again wide open and it was a sweet finish. Marsh latched on to score our 3rd. but the humiliation had already happened. There were not many boos at the end and at least Bromley had a sporting send off from Torquay’s fans particularly from the Bristow bench.
It was a sad, sad day and no-one has a clue what it coming next. It seems from Steve Breed’s pre-match interview Hargreaves is not in the frame for a return. Surely he can do no worse than what currently is on show or Hodges for that matter. How could we afford a manager’s wages. Surely we cannot risk again not paying a manager who can just leave as he pleases. Desperate times I’m afraid but let’s continue to support our club more than ever. I just wish I could see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Look, there's no denying that that was utterly sh*t, but let's also not forget that we have no manager at the moment and that appalling performance was overseen by an inexperienced management duo who were thrown in the deep end with 24 hours notice. I was fully expecting a dreadful performance for that very reason.

I'm really not bothered that Cox has gone. For the tactical genius that he is he has put together a defence which is a joke. I have only seen one match (Cheltenham) and its obvious where the problem lies and that's with Exodus who is terrible. We need to go four at the back and boot it him out and play Butler and Hurst as normal full backs.
So Edwards played Lavercombe? so what - Speiss has been as bad as Rice all season. At least Edwards recognised that Tyrone Marsh was worth a go.
Other than that we are up shit creek without a paddle. To be honest I wouldn't be too surprised to see Breed playing centre forward on Tuesday. Him and Edwards seem to have done every other job at the club.
Its looking like a calamity which is irretrievable. The clubs been going down the toilet for a couple of years and now its gone down the sewer.
Lets face it - its all over.

Brucie it's pissing me off as well if we can see this why can't the -ric-s running it see it.They should have taken Exodus off after twenty minutes today.brucie wrote:I'm really not bothered that Cox has gone. I heard Edwards to manage till the end of season but now the club won't last that long if we don't get 1,800.

We might aswell lock the doors to plainmoor right now if Edwards is manager for the season. Does he even have any coaching badges?! I've taken Torquay to the premier league in 5 seasons on FM if Steve Breed wants to give me a call..

1.I've got to ask why Cox was not on a contract when all the players are, who ever sanctioned this is destroying the club.
2.Who allowed Ramshaw to be in the dugout if he's going to follow Cox. (Is he on contract)
I thought all the players gave everything today and never gave up even though there were some bad periods in the game. The problem today was the Bromley manager did his homework and played his pacey strikers on the outside of our three at the back. We scored a good goal early on but after twenty minutes we should have switched to a back four as Bromley played on McDonald as there was yards of space on the outside of him everytime they attacked. Hurst was in no mans land playing virtually as a winger leaving Mcdonald exposed and most of their chances came from this.At this time we should have switched to a 4-4-2 formation and I am confident that we would not be looking at a 3-7 result. I was behind the dugout and was so frustrated that I shouted at the pair in the dugout to change it to 4-4-2 but alas they came out the same in the second half. (We are better than this)
Today it was an inept performance from the dugout as one was clueless and the other not interested. I will be surprised if we get a 1,000 on Tuesday unless a manager is installed pretty quick as this pair have not got a clue and let the players down.
I would have taken our throw-in specialist off after twenty minutes leaving McDonald and Smith central leaving the fullbacks as they were. I thought Marsh looked sharp and proved that we could have done better by scoring his hat-trick if only we had the sense to tighten up at the back early on. Oh and you can't blame the keeper he was let down!
I thought when we went behind Ramshaw let Edwards carry on in control(Doing nothing) as I don't think that he will be here Tuesday. I heard a director in the crowd state that he was still very friendly with Cox and he's a nice bloke, how can that be.

Ramshaw as well as Cox not under contract as not being paid
If DE takes a 50% reduction in his ego busting salary we could employ a very good Manager and assistant
You cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear
Never mind 1800 we won't get 800 a game the way we are going. Cox was supposed to be a good manager but jesus our defence is pathetic. Reckon it will be Edwards and Breed as joint managers.
Lets face it we have had the comedy duo doing everything. You have the Chief Executive interviewing the Chairman on You Tube. Then you have the Chief Executive interviewing the Dof on You Tube. Then on Tuesday night at Kidderminster you had the Chief Executive as the summariser on the radio telling the listeners that the manager should have played Lavercombe in goal instead of Spiess.
Then Lo and behold the manager does a runner and Lavercombe plays in goal today.
I reckon that Breed and Edwards (i'm going to barge people out of the way to get this club back in the league) have sat down and picked the team together.
Clearly Roger Ramjet had bugger all to do with the team selection today yet was left to explain the farce on the radio whilst those responsible were presumably interviewing each other somewhere else.
The whole shebang has the feel of a western league club to be honest. Bring back Mike Bateson,

Hang on! Someone enlighten me.
Do we need a DOF or a manager?
Why does a DOF get paid and a manager not?

I also think you got it right actually.

All this talk in the summer about Cox being here for the medium to long term from Edwards. We will let him go when jobs done here if a bigger club comes ect ect.....I know it's been a tough time but to not have proper contracts and this thing with not being paid is begged belief....feel like I've been treated like a fool. came down from Yorkshire on Thursday , spent 75 pound in club shop and 2 tickets Saturday with a few pints.....feel dejected
skip to 2.57 minutes if you haven't seen the free-kick 5h goal.

Young keeper thrown to the wolves and a central defender who always seemed to have at least 4 of our own players behind him, along with a few of the opposition too. Dreadful.
