TUFC V Yeovil (FA Trophy) - 18th Nov 3pm

Post by Midlandgull »

Yeovil at home again. I'm not sure how I feel about this one personally. Do I want to win? Yes. But if we lose I won't be that bothered either.

I don't think we can win the competition even if we get through this tie, and the league is more important to us (you can say the same for Yeovil but they are running away with it with a bigger squad). Our squad has some wounds and my thinking is having as many players available as possible and fewer games = a better chance of finishing in the playoffs and hopefully 2nd.

I think a lot will depend on the sides put out by both, but assuming both are pretty strong, I'll go TUFC 1-2 Yeovil.

See that Yeovil have signed a Central Defender on loan from Bristol City to cover for one of their players injured on Tuesday night.
What is known in the trade as a Reactivate signing .. getting cover in quickly after an injury.
It wouldn't occur to Johnson to act as quickly or indeed at all !!

We have only needed a centre back since August !
Reactive signing and that’s the difference.
I won’t bother with this meaningless fixture, the real game was the league one and we failed miserably.

I hope we play plenty of fringe players in this one, there are quite a few players who need some game time, and a 'semi' competitive match would be ideal for that.

Don't expect too many travelling fans, this is the first in a run of 5 straight away games, of which this is the least important by far.

TUFC 2 Yeovil 1 is my prediction.
Almost exactly as I was thinking, including the scoreline - see my previous post earlier this week.

Looking forward to the game now. Gotta be better than the shitshow England put up against Malta. :)
