Very sad to see that Paul Holmes has passed away at the age of just 56.

One of, if not the, best left backs I've seen play for Torquay.
Joined us from Doncaster in '88 and went on to play for Birmingham, Everton and West Brom before re-joining to us in '99.

What an excellent player he was, although I remember him playing right back. RIP
Saw him at the Havant game-supported by Rowcroft Hospice to attend knowing it would be his last chance to see the team he served with such distinction.

Very sad news. I saw Paul play for United at Wembley in 1989 losing to Bolton Wanderers and in 1991 when we beat Blackpool in the Penalty shoot out.
At the time I was not living in Devon but could not miss 2 trips to Wembley.

Seeing him during his first spell at the club it was clear that he was capable of playing at a higher level.
