[OS] NEXT UP | Enfield Town (10/08/24 3pm KO)

Post by TorquayFans.com »

It all starts again for United tomorrow, as the 2024/25 campaign gets underway at home to Enfield Town. After what has been a summer like no other at Plainmoor, the Yellow Army will be able to once again focus on 90 minutes on the pitch tomorrow, as Paul Wotton’s side look to get the new campaign off to a winning start.   Who’s the Boss? Image Manager Gavin Macpherson enjoyed a remarkable first season at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, as his team secured promotion to National League South following a comprehensive Play-Off Final victory over Chatham Town (3–0). Macpherson’s success at Town follows on from a lengthy spell at Metropolitan Police FC, a club where he spent 20 years as player, assistant and manager. With Gulls boss Wotton having locked horns with Macpherson’s Met Police side before, he already knows that his side will be in for a tough test tomorrow afternoon.   Player to Watch Image Town strengthened their striking options on the eve of their trip to the English Riviera, with former Sutton striker Hisham Kisamu signing in time for tomorrow’s opening-day clash. Kisamu, 27, will have recent memories of facing The Gulls during a productive loan spell at National League South rivals Fanrborough, where he chalked up 9 goals in 20 appearances for Boro. United’s backline will certainly have to be on their guard against Enfield’s newest addition if they are to come out on top tomorrow, with the forward’s 31 goals in two seasons at AFC Totton further proof of his goalscoring ability in non-League football.   Played for Both Image If one player in the Towners line-up will be looking forward to tomorrow’s clash more than anyone else, it’s likely to be former Gulls youngster Mickey Parcell. Having graduated through the youth ranks to turn professional at Plainmoor with Chris Hargreaves’ side in 2014/15, Right-back Mickey turned to his hometown club after finding his first-team route blocked. A successful first spell at Enfield saw him welcomed back with open arms last summer, with his two spells at Town separated by a four-year stint at Hornchurch.   Previous Encounter Although the two sides have never met before, Enfield FC – from which club Town formed as a breakaway club in 2001 – faced Division Three United in the FA Cup 30 years ago. After Chima Okorie’s goal secured Don O’Riordan’s side a 1-1 draw at Southbury Road, The Gulls must have fancied their chances in the replay at Plainmoor. However, in front of 3,174 supporters, it was Andy Kerr’s second-half header that secured the non-League side a trip to Leicester in Round 3.   Vanarama National League South | Torquay United v Enfield Town | 10/08/24 | KO: 3pm | Matchday information available HERE Live commentary via BBC Radio Devon available HERE Livestream coverage via NLTV available HEREThe post NEXT UP | Enfield Town (10/08/24 3pm KO) first appeared on Torquay United.
