Hello all
planning to come down with my wife for next weekend and want to camp and do a bit of cycling!
OK we would like a campsite preferably with
- no caravans or mobile homes
rural site with plenty of space
anything up to 20 miles or so from the town
good walking or cycling nearby
reasonably close to real ale pub
facilities can be basic - in fact we'd prefer it
I'd also like a thatched farm with a buxom farmer's wife 8/ who can supply farm milk and eggs but may be pushing it a bit there.......
If anyone can come close please let me know.
Good luck at the shrews tomorrow and cheers

The one to go for would be manor farm...all of the above and is infact owned by Thea Bristow-from the board, it's a very nice place in a lovely area! The website is here...

I'm not to sure on if it closes the beginning of september or the end, I'm sure they will have no problem with you pitching up there.

Yep, Manor Farm would be ideal, 4 or 5 miles from Torquay; and great cycling country around the Kingskerswell, Newton Abbot and Teign valley areas which are relatively flat compared with the rest of South Devon; and lots of pubs. Bring a map.

Look, if you really want to spend the weekend fannying around in the country, catching butterflies, drinking pints of badgers ar#e, & cooking up a load of sh#te on a primus stove then I suggest that you stop over in Wales. Torquay is a vibrant international jet set resort, & we don't admit blokes with beards on cycles. Have a good weekend!!

You've got me so wrong.
It's not a beard, it's two very very long sideburns.
Thanks for your help so far anyway. Anybody got any other good sites - I always like to get more than quote and I maybe just favour somewhere wilder and a little less organised 8/ .................maybe up into Dartmoor?
Fussy tuat ain't I?

I hear there's still an old holiday camp up at Princetown on Dartmoor, though it's not a place where people normally choose to stay.

I found this one, Marldon Tor Campsite about 8 miles from Plainmoor, out in the country. Don't know what it's like; you could enquire.

I believe there's also a campsite between Marldon and Torquay on the ring road, though I forget Its name.

lol.
You could try camping on the beach at Paignton.
Have you ever seen a beach? As opposed to mud and cockles?

Camp site.
There's one up Rock Road doubling up as a nightclub and a pub up Meadfoot Lane doing the same.
I've heard that women go there although they have deep voices, a protruding Adam's apple and large hands.
