Torquay United v Barnet

Barnet have lost only once (to MK Dons in the FA Cup) in their last seven games, and they are still in the JPT competition. And they have a decent record against the Gulls. They should not be under-estimated. The lads will need all our support on Friday evening..

bookies making us clear favouites, and they're not often wrong, currently bet365 have us at 10/11. the draw 5/2 and barnet 3/1.

i know they are a strong team, and their recent form has been good, but ours is even better and surely it should be a comfortable home win. hopefully in front of a large crowd?? theres really no excuses if we dont top 3000, yes its near xmas, but its not a shopping day, theres no football on tv, no one is playing local league games, so i'm thinking this should be the biggest attendance of the season, just counting home fans of course.

i'm gonna back 2-0 and 3-0, howe to score at any time, 15 and 22/1 respectively

2500 would be an exceptional crowd given that we'll be lucky if there are around a 100 hardy souls from Barnet.

I think it's a much tougher game than the bookies seem to think and 3/1 looks a generous offering from the bookies there. We'll have to keep McLeod quiet that's for sure.

could be a real banana skin this one....thier last six games could suggest this (played 6 won 5 lost one)
I hope the guys raise thier game for this one and get the perfect tonic for the 3-2 facup exit by "thrashing" Barnet 1-0 ^.^

Barnet have had a busy week, game sat, they played a Herts Cup game on Monday where a few first teamers played, then they had a full team out for the JPT on Tuesday before playing us tomorrow.

I've felt Barnet have underachieved for a while, they are in a good location to get good players in on loan, and they have on paper some excellent players for this level. McLeod, Kabba, Brill would get into just about anyone's team.

Having said that I still think we'll win tomorrow, 3-1 :)

Agree with Dave and kingsgull on this one. I predicted Barnet to go down at the start of the season but they have really picked up lately ( a bit like ourselves ) so its a case of two sides who are in form slugging it out. I will go for a score draw but would be a little disappointed with that considering our recent performances but naturally hope for the win.

On the TFF site there's this :

A weather warning from the BBC . . .

"On Friday evening there will be a deep depression moving down from North Devon. The area most likely to be affected is Torquay."

Does this mean brucie (aka alunmeerkat) is attending his first Plainmoor match of the season ?

If its anything like the weather up 'ere toneet then tomorrow nights game is not going to be pretty. Rather like two people playing table tennis but with a blow dryer a piece.

Its nearly 2pm and the weather in Chesterfield is like Armageddon. It is severe and the local news last night was all about floods and lorries overturning and road closures. In fact i passed a horrendous accident on the A61 Dronfield bypass about an hour ago during driving sleet and hail. Whats the weather like down in the bay today? Are any problems likely such as high winds or floods? I reckon if its anything like it is up here then that will knock a few more off the gate tonight.

Sunny in Torquay today, and it's going to remain dry with a moderate breeze, but very cold: about 5 degrees this evening and getting lower through the night. So the game will go ahead, but definitely not a sellout.

Cheers Gullscorer for the weather update! Should be ideal conditions for us to spray the ball around on the deck then and cause Barnet some problems.

After their very, very, very lucky win on Tuesday night (grrrrrrr), I'm hoping that the false Bees are worn out and we hammer them 6-0. Was hoping that tonight would see my first trip down this season, but my boys are expecting a prezzie at Xmas, so won't be there (another grrrrrr). Realistically can see us scraping a 1-0, but think it'll be a tight game....COYY :scarf:

If we hammer them 6-0, we'll be in the fourth play-off spot, at least for a few hours. Never envisaged that before the season started.. :scarf:
