Can I have time to think about this one, um, like the next 4 years at least. And what limp dick boycotters we'll be if we don't qualify.

FIFA needs urgent attention now, not in 8 years time. Somehow, I've got a feeling FIFA has got a protective cloak on that stinks of Russian Mafia and putin place by the State.

Sory four the tiepoe, ingleesh wos nut mi beest supject at skool.

Boycott the world cup? Dont be ridiculous, doesnt surprise me one bit that we havent got it. The panorama thing just wrapped it up. Theyve put it un russia as its uncharted territory within sport, it doesnt really have a national sport, football will grow as a sport with a russian following. Its as if theyre creating a legacy over there. Boycotting it will do nothing, just give football a worse reputation than it already does.

Sad innit when no one reads what's on the other boards. Maybe readers have realised what an arsehole and an opinion have in common :

WE ALL HAVE ONE

Now please readers have the common courtesy to reply to yellowmonkey's question.

Boycotting would do something, in my opinion. It would make people actually realise that FIFA is a corrupt load of shite.

Our bid was the best one, even Blatter himself said it was (pretty much), so its insane how we didn't get it. Well, not insane, because it was inevitable because of the Panorama thing. But I hope that the British media come down on FIFA like a ton of bricks now.

It needs sorting, because Russia has no real interest in football, and Qatar.. is there even any football ever played in Qatar?!?!

I don't think we will boycott it, but I think it would make a difference if we did. Especially if we won it in 2014 (although thats about as likely as Exeter going to the Championship!)

Exactly, football is not played in those countries, so we are trying to get them to. Im not defending fifa, just saying that could be part of the plan. Boycotting it would make England look an embarrasment, we would look like sore losers, best to have some sort of professional inquiry surely?!

As long as any "professional" inquiry doesn't include "amateurs."

I see where you're coming from, and it's a very fair point. I can see why Fifa are trying to expand, but is it just me who already sees the Russia World Cup being a big flop? A bit like South Africa, empty seats all over the shop, probably all sorts of violence there too. I for one wouldn't set foot at one of the bigger games there. It's a bit like Brazil, we all saw what happened to Jenson Button over there, its going to be mental.

From a business/profit point of view for Fifa, I'd have thought England would have been the best bet as its all ready-made, and I'm quite sure it would have been a sell out where-ever, whenever. If there had been a game down at Plymouth, I'd have tried going. Even if it was North Korea vs New Zealand.

Still.

I just feel that FIFA has cut its nose off to spite its face here, and all because it doesn't want to face the truths. The Panorama episode might well be blamed, but before that, I thought Fifa was a well-run organisation. Now, it seems that it is just a tower of corruption which could easily collapse anytime soon.

Maybe some people didn't have an opinion either way and so decided not to bother.

That's the beauty of a forum you see - if you don't want to respond to certain things you don't have to.

Trojan - I note you haven't yet responded on the "money, money, money" thread on the main board yet.

Could you please have the common courtesy to respond to the question posed.....

;-)

Being someone with the time old unhealing bullet wound (arsehole) it takes time for me to properly inwardly ingest information contained in any thread. You can be sure that when I'm ready to excrete the sh*t will hit the the fan. :)

I think a boycott would only work if other countries joined us otherwise it looks like we're chucking our toys out of the pram.
Perhaps have a football 5 nations instead for example, I think I'd like to see that anyway instead of friendlies to be honest. Then maybe other nations might want to join.
