A Couple Of New Flags Made

Post by holsten »

For those of you who are interested, the 'ultras' group have had a few flags made.

1st) 10/4ft
Image

Still needs eyelets which will be inserted tonight.

2nd)4/4ft (ish) (pole on each side)
Image

NOT YET FINISHED. It's an Opie style picture of Kevin Hill. I projected it onto a whiteboard and drew the main features of his face but simplified the eyes and nose. Surprisingly it's still recognisable despite being of a cartoon-style! I ran out of pen so it should be finished tonight. The sides have folds the whole way up so we can have a pole on each side.
ANY IDEAS FOR WHAT WORDS/MESSAGE TO PUT ON IT???

Let's all get behind the boys on saturday and get 3 points! :scarf:

Good work mate.

Mid-Devon is back on the site now so we'll have to ask him to give us an idea of what kind of flags can be obtained and at what cost. As I mentioned before, I'm happy to contribute towards getting some and think a fund would be a good idea. Maybe he could talk his wife into giving us a decent discount for a quantity of flags,

I can start things rolling with a pledge of £50.

Like the Kevin Hill one.

You should do a similar one for Elliot Benyon, but keep the "NOT YET FINISHED' there...on the bottom write "Yeah, so keep yer filthy hands off him"

Great flags mate! Would be great to get a fund up and running. On the words and messages, how about "Commitment is everything"? Or some thing along those lines.

Ooh, united09, good idea.

"To follow TUFC, you should be committed "

I love double meanings, me :)

Cheers mate.
I've been in contact with mid-devon and he has come up with a few good suggestions, one being a pinbadge.
Not sure how to go about doing the fund, but it is a great idea and will result in us getting the best flags at the best prices.
Anyone know how we could set one up?

p.s. 'committment is everything', brillant. :win:

I know a lot of time and effort has gone into making these flags, and personally I think they look great. Can't wait to see them on display at Plainmoor. Top job Walshy.

Flags look very good, can't wait to see them.
Like 'happytorq' said, it would be good to have a few player ones made like a Benyon one.
Good work guys.

I have followed Ultras for years. In fact we sponsored Ultras.com for a while.

My view is the fewer words on flags the better "Hill LEGEND" says it all to me.

You have done some superb flags. I sit in the family stand, as I have done since it was built, so have a different view to most of you peasants!!!!. I will try and take some photos tomorrow (if the game is on) from that side.

Reference flags, obviously we sell them, but we are essentially retailers who import flags from Taiwan, so custom flags are difficult unless you want 500 odd!

My thoughts on the pin badge are simple. If we could come up with a design, I can get them made, sell them for £3 to £3.50 each either via our website, the club shop???, ebay or Amazon, with at least £1- £1.50 going to buy materials for flags.

I have to say you have done a remarkable job in a short time. Well done everyone.

A few years back I remember a large square yellow flag with a gull on it, does anyone know what has happened to that???? It really was impressive.

I feel the key with ultra groups is to encourage all types of flags, none are too small or too large, or say the wrong thing. The more people involved the more this has a chance of becoming part of the culture.

When I went up to York City twice in one season it has to be said their ultras presence was the highlight of the trips. These guys are just not competitive at all, they wish all clubs had ultra groups, so feel free to contact those at Stanley, York or Barrow for tips

P.S the first two people to send me their address will receive an 8'x5' Yellow and Blue Union Jack, as long as they promise to take it to Torquay games....it's the least we can do!
