Rovers in for Buckle?

Herald now suggesting this could be the case:
http://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/sport/G ... ticle.html

Rumours that he is top of their wish list and Rovers fans are talking about it on their chat forum
http://www.brfcforum.co.uk/index.php?/t ... been-told/

He has not exactly dismissed his interest in it with his comments has he!

If true - my worry is that it looks like another January coming of restructuring (with a few key players being sold) and without PB at the reigns we might well be in spot of bother.

Carlisle's departure was a bit buried in that piece. All the best to him.

I can't see Bucks leaving us just yet, he seems to have a plan that he wants to see through.

Edited to say that I realise I'm behind with the Carlisle news but ill children. ill me, being snowed in at the in-laws and all things Christmas mean no internet time for me :S

The above link is from the Herald Express and the two comments at the bottom of the article sum it up for me with nothing to be added.

If he was to go, we'd obviously get compensation so anyone got an idea on how much? And who would we like to see replace him?

Trollope could be in the running...

If i was Rovers, i would be in for Holdworth ahead of Buckle.

Ultimately, Buckle turned down Colchester last season. We're in a better position than last season and Rovers aren't doing very well at all, i can't see any logic behind the move. Bigger than us yes, but Rovers aren't a huge club. If he goes, it could turn out to be a sideways step, like Waddock leaving Aldershot to go to Wycombe, for them to then get relegated that season.

I'd love to see Trollope here to manage us though :)

Paul Buckle being linked to every single manager vacancy that appears in league 1 and 2 is becoming predictable now,and will continue every time a job becomes availible.

Anyone can link a manager to a job by speculating in a local rag,or writing an article on the internet claming sources close to the club have told me this that or the other, then of course bookies will then add that name they are in the buinsness of making money .

Bristol Rovers have been in league 1 for three seasons finishing twice 11th and once in 16th,they have only played in what is now known as the championship once in the last 30 years 92-93.

Are they really a massive club going places? do they have a great stadium?,do they have the infustructure to mount a promotion campaign towards the championship,my opinion is ,no ,on all counts.

Paul Buckle will move on ,he is young and ambitious, and when does move to me it must be the right club at the right time in his career, going to Bristol Rovers now to me would be the biggest mistake he could make.

Paul Buckle needs to continue the good work he is doing here, and wait for when a good championship or top league 1 club will come in for him, then as afan he will move on with my best wish's.

On the basis that Rovers would have to pay a large chunk of money to us and we could pick up someone like Trollope for nothing, i'd take that.

Paul Buckle currently manages one of the leagues smallest clubs whichever way you look at it. Small crowds, Small ground, Small squad, Small budget, Small expectations.

Bristol Rovers "natural" position is probably where they are now. Bottom third of the 3rd division. Too good for the bottom section, without ever having the infrustructure to push on and make a serious claim for a Championship place. Yet they have double the crowds of Torquay (even when not playing well and have proved they can attract regular consistent crowds approaching 10,000 when playing well), the potential of a completely rebuilt ground, a much larger squad and a much larger budget.

I personally rate Buckle really highly, but he is not ready for a team of a MUCH higher stature i.e Championship yet. I hate to say it but Bristol Rovers would be an ideal move for him (and no doubt Elliot Benyan and Mark Ellis and Euane O'Kane as well).

I think his biggest problem is that he would inherite a squad approaching 30 players, I am not sure if he could cope with this and yet he would need a far bigger squad that he runs Torquay on.

Reference compenstation, firstly Buckle would have had it written in his contarct that he is allowed to speak to clubs in higer divisions, he would be a fool not to. The best Torquay can hope for is compensation equivalent to Buckles potential earnings for the rest of his contact, his last signing on fee and perhaps £20K good will.

A football chairman once said you make more money from selling your best player than the man who put him on the pitch

Worrying, as if he goes, no doubt half our players do aswell. O'Kane, Benyon, Zebs, Ellis. :(

Did you know that what people worry about rarely happens. On the rare occasion that something does happen then the worry is over. You are now in a situation dealing with methods of solution.

Let's resolve any situation involving Paul Buckle's future if/when it happens and not before.

Relax, enjoy peace and laughter with your family and friends, and let the true spirit of Christmas warm from within.

I would imagine three quaters of the players you mentioned will be gone in January whether Buckle leaves or not!
