Chants to get behind the team tonight - Maybe 1

Chants about f**king Paul Konchesky - 100+ :@

The verbal diarrhea that comes from that area of the pop is of a new level

Please don't come next Tuesday to repeat it! :red: :red:

Beat me to it roar, you must stand near me, I did not realise we had so many plastic Liverpool fans amongst our support, the shame of it, it seemed his time at Liverpool was the reason for the abuse.

What made me laugh, is when Paul Konchesky returned the abuse in kind, the prats started to boo him, dear oh lord, if you going to give stick be prepared to take some back, where is there a rule that says football fans are allowed to abuse a player with out getting a reaction.

Paul Konchesky and Torquay United = massive history! I am sure some come to the game with pre-planned abuse in mind. Support your team and stop trying to be the big I am as it is painful and extremely embarrassing as well as a very poor representation of the club.

I'm all for a bit of banter but tonight just took this p#ss! It got so boring, even Konchesky got bored in the end and it was just embarrassing! All in all the atmosphere was shite tonight. Even when the game could go either way. We really need to up our game next Tuesday! Maybe a more varied positive chant selection.

Another season another moan about the singers. I like these threads bitching about the singers because people come on here and have a moan. But they never actually do anything about it at the games. Why not try starting songs aswell and creating the atmosphere aswell? Why not ask them to encourage the team more? Generally there a good bunch of lads who will listen if you talk to them properly....

As for the chants I did find them humourous and Konchesky rightfully gave it back when they scored etc. I personally didnt have an issue with him giving it back. As said dont dish it out if you cant take it back. Maybe they were over done a bit (I myself abit guilty of that and I apologise for that) but when your 3 and 4-0 down its hard not for the mind to drift and to have a laugh with your mates. Since the game was over. Before that the atmosphere was poor but at least the songs were (apart from the unfair shouts aimed at Morris who didnt deserve it) the chants were behind the team before Leicester took control of the game and there quality was too much for us.

Sorry for the long post but at the end of the day its all well and good moaning about it on here when most of them wont read it and not do anything about it at the game.

What was the problem with Konchesky? Ex England international, represented some perfectly innocent teams, Fulham among them. Someone explain it to me?

Matt.

I am all for banter aswell, what I dont get is, fans chuck banter at player, player throws banter back at fans, fans then boo said player, why?

Agree on atmosphere, thing is at Home most of the fans will only join in with the "yellowarmy" chant, and I think thats what we should stick to at home, yes its plain and boring, however its the chant you will allways get the popside, bench and family stand joining in with, save the other chants for away days.

And just pick up on what you have said Alex, and this is not having a go at you, but if the singers don't want to be moaned at or bitched at then don't spend time singing Konchesky is older than 90 followed by Liverpool, Liverpool, and to be honest that was about as funny as a hole drilled in the head with the said drill set on hammer action.

If the other team starts to take control of the game thats the very time you singers have got to come into your own, not let your mind drift and chant utter bollock, get chants like "yellowarmy" which as said above is the very chant that all in the ground will join with, because thats the very thing that well the team.

TBH I agree that the boo's were ridiculous as I said if you dish it out you have to take it back. I was glad he gave it back and took it on the chin and got on with it. And I take your point on the chants at home I just think if more people tried starting them off aswell the atmosphere would be better and it would keep the "childish" abusive type chants from popping up we all know that the "Younger Generation" have short attention spans and can easily drift and need to be kept in line which is where I feel the more mature fan can step in and put them back in the right direction instead of silently listening in ready to post on here and complain about it. As Ive said many times before they are approachable people aswell and aslong as you talk to them normally and not in a way that sounds like your moaning at them they'll listen no issues I'm sure.

And again fair point forever but again we all need to bond together and get behind it and not just rely on the section that usually chants. We keep getting these threads pop up because no one does anything about it. Alot of them dont read this forum so wont realise other people around them dont enjoy the chants as much as they do. Lets move on from this and really back the lads at Fleetwood and in the important league games where we need to get back behind the lads the most. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Agree for near enough, all of the second half was about Konchesky. "yellow army" is a bit mind numming after a while but even that would of been welcomed tonight. What happend to the old school chants from a few years back? I can name half dozen that are never chanted these days.

Agreed but its alot of newcomers in the singers now probably dont know them! Thats why I'm saying if the older people started chants aswell it would be better because A) it would be more consistant and B) it would be good to get some of the old chants back from years ago. And there would be less chants like tonight. Sometimes you need to get people in the right direction and thats probably what we need really.

Roadrunner, I think the problem was that a lot of popside regulars followed suit and took in the bench to check it out last night.

Plus getting beaten 4-0 in a fairly meaningless game doesnt lead to a good atmosphere

i understand what your saying but meaningless chants from the people that were there doesnt help, they need to get behind the team, there was enough of them over there to do something helpful!

Fair enough, I wasnt actually there, just going by what my old man told me last night.

That group have always been the same mind, singing all sorts of rubbish. They claim to want to bring the noise back, but they actually hqrm the noise because people dont want to join in with rubbish.

Agreed Alex, I wouldn't want to turn this into a witch hunt against the group of young lads, I dont really know many of them well, have spoke to a few of them in passing and they are a good bunch who take a lot of stick unfairly, they are very loyal aswell.

The problem with what your saying about more of the mature fans starting chants is, in walks of life there are leaders and followers, and the more mature fan is more likey to follow rather than lead, the singers group to me have to be like a good DJ who can reconise the crowd they are playing to, and play music to suit.

Away from home you get the more hardcore support who join in with lots of different chants, at home as said its different, I agree with united09 singing yellow army all the time is mind numbing, however it works at Plainmoor stick to things like that adapt it maybe and people will join in.
