Barnet game
This game will be massive, and is surely a "must win". As such we (the club) need to get Plainmoor full and rocking. Why not make it £5 entry for everyone, or even a quid? OK we'll lose a lot of money but God knows we will lose a hell of a lot more if we go down. Such an offer would be a real statement of intent from the board.
For the record I am a season ticket holder so wouldn't benefit me financially but this game is so important I really feel we need to do something.
Thoughts?

Good idea. Even I could afford £5.
On the other hand, that could buy me 5 pints of cider from the supermarket.
And then there's the weather: I don't have a raincoat...

Because it won't work. We should make this a sticky. People in Torbay don't like football, they like cream tea, the Queen's Speech and tartan travel blankets. We could, therefore, offer a free cream tea and tartan travel blanket upon entry to the match and promise to show Queenie at half time on the big screen, but short of that, we might get an extra couple of hundred people in and it will cost the club money it hasn't got to play a match.
Free tickets for ST holders who bring along a mate who has been to, say, fewer than 3 games this year, that might work, but not a fiver all in.
I have a mate who genuinely is a football fan. He watches Premier League, Spanish, some German, knows a bunch of the history, rates overseas players and makes a few quid of William Hill over a season, but I couldn't get him to Plainmoor if I promised a free half time lap dance from Jessica Rabbit herself. He's part of the Premier League generation who views L2 a bit like the popular media does, they think it's park football played between the Dog and Duck and the King's Arms.
One day, when we're in the Premier League, we will get 40,000 to come, but until then, we need the present 2500 or so old duffers to stop complaining about the price of tea and start joining in when I'm stood chanting Yellow Army all to my frigging self!
Matt.

£5 entry would be great. With suppport dwindling, the club is running the risk of losing many supporters for good. A good crowd and a good atmosphere may make the stay aways want to come back. Short term pain, long term gain.

The crap we been serving up this season, I would suggest his assessment is pretty accurate. As for £5 per ticket, it won't happen. The club is strapped for cash as it is, this idea would be considered by them to be commercial suicide. The fact that getting relegated to the BSP because we didn't splash the cash on a few more loan signings sooner, just demonstrates the lack of forward thinking we have at the club.

Sadly, as the ticket price saga carries on on the other thread, i have to agree with Matt and say that the general interest and apathy with the club by locals will win out and even at a fiver i can't see there being loads more people there. That's really sad.
Can't we all club together and f*cking BUY AND RUN our club?!!

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Good idea Andy. What's the club worth?
I could put a fiver in: I believe a few football clubs have been bought for less...!

Ebbsfleet. I feel I need say no more.
Matt.
In fairness Mav, this side were doing alright until January and had done for about 3 years. If I'd asked you on December 30th how many points we'd get between then and March 20th, I bet you (and everyone else) would have said a damn sight more than the number we actually got. This squad is more than capable of surviving in L2, it's just we have failed to live up to that promise for a number of reasons, not least the fact that we have now had three managers this season, one of whom went sick and was replaced by a man, who, through no fault of his own, simply isn't equipped to do the job, at the most crucial part of the season (the Jan transfer window).
The Board, (unlike RoadRunner) do not have a Magic 8 Ball from which they may find the answers to questions of the future. No one saw this coming (shut up, Brucie, you idiot, you always think we're shit, even when we're in the Playoffs. You know nothing). Yes, it could have been sorted much earlier than it was, but, through a quirk of timing we found ourselves without a manager for the period when loan signings should have been sorted. Who sorts loan signings? Why, the manager of course.

That's a great posting, Matt - summarises exactly the circumstances that have put us in the position we're in. If only we had hindsight, eh ??

It's not a case of we went to the wall in january, we have been pretty ropey for most of the season. the only difference is that early on we got lucky in games and managed not to lose. We didn't play well against plymouth in Sept, We scraped a win against Morecombe in october but we just happened to be the better of too poor sides. Harrogate and Southend in November. they have played the odd game where they performed better, but it's been too few and infrequent. It would be quicker to list the games where we have played good football this season.
ferrarilover - I'm an idiot? what does that say about those running the club then. Did you watch the Wimbledon game. any fool could see that day that our squad wasn't good enough. So what was done about it? absolutely nothing, bugger all.
This was an accident waiting to happen and it has done big style. This hasn't got anything to do with Taylor or Knill.
You think we are good enough? - you are insane?
Believe me I don't take one iota of pleasure in being proved right. I am just a supporter - I don't run a football club. But if I could see what was happening what the hell were ling,Baker and co doing . Sat with their heads up each others arses - thats what.
