League 2 fixtures 2013/14

Post by lucy6lucy »

After what has been a quiet close season to say the least, the excitement for the forthcoming season starts on Wednesday when the fixtures are released at 9am. For us fans who live up North, we will be busy scanning the away fixtures. On a personal note, Rochdale/Bury/York/Morecambe/Fleetwood will be the ones I will look out for, so I hope they are on favourable Saturdays. As for Accrington it don't matter as the place is despicable when ever you go, so may as well be played in mid November on a Tuesday night when champions league matches are being played involving Manchester teams, so a 3 figure attendance guaranteed. Who do we get first, probably Mansfield away? No doubt xmas fixtures are sorted in either Plymouth/Scum or Newport? Last match going for Portsmouth at Home. Have a feeling we will have a good challenge for playoffs. COYY

A note for everyone, please can you all avoid posting the full list of fixtures as it isn't allowed. Use this thread for discussions to avoid having multiple threads everywhere :).

Hoping that Morecambe is in April/August as I enjoyed it up there in April! Great away day!

Double post I know, but the FL have released 6 fixtures for the opening day which will mark their 125 year anniversary.

Burnley v Bolton and Derby v Blackburn in the Championship.

Sheff Utd v Notts Co and Preston v Wolves in L1.

Hartlepool v Rochdale and Newport v Accrington in L2.

Rules out a trip to one of the 3 northern crapholes on the opening day, which is nice!

I've seen a leaked first home game fixture showing us against Oxford at home. Not sure if there is any truth in it. Watch this space.

I know this is no fault of anyone on here and rules must be followed but this is the biggest load of bullsh1t going. How someone can have 'rights' over a fixture list scares me as to where the future lies in the corporate world we live in!

It's another money making way. I refuse to pay to publish them. A link to the BBC fixtures page is cool with me, BBC can make use of our TV licence money.

Rightly so - it is just disgusting that they can charge for the 'right' to publish a fixture list.

It doesn't cost anything since the ECJ ruled that there is no basis for applying copyright benefit to the lists. The ECJ ruled that there was nothing in European law allowing such an application and reverted the case back to the highest national courts for final jurisdictional judgement. The Court of Appeal ruled in November 2012 and concurred with the ECJ that there was no 'database privilege' applicable to FL fixtures in England and Scotland. Thus, the full list MAY be reproduced here without penalty (with the proviso that no one here suggests that they represent the FL, since that would, if untrue, represent a separate offence altogether).

What we do know so far is that the first game of the season won't be Newport/Hartlepool or Rochdale/Accrington as they're playing each other to celebrate 125 years of the Football League. So ..... what's the betting that we'll be away to newly-promoted Mansfield ??

Swindon? League 2 fixtures?

Does anyone know what, exactly, about Rochdale v Accrington is supposed to be representative of 125 years of League football?

Nothing, but then they are not playing each other in the opening weekend:
None of the teams in the featured League Two games was part of the 1888-89 season but the fixture between Hartlepool and Rochdale is the most played between any two clubs currently in the Football League, with the next meeting their 137th encounter.
In the final anniversary match, Accrington Stanley travel to the League's newest ground and member club - Rodney Parade, the home of the re-formed Newport County.
An Accrington side did compete in the 1888-89 season but that club later folded and is unconnected to the modern-day Stanley.

Not long till they're out! I'm being selfish and hoping for a northern away day first, however Pompy home or away would be quality!

Clearly Daz is on about the cup game..

Think we'll be home on the opening day, to Wycombe/Oxford/Chesterfield. First away game will be Wimbledon.
