Guy Branston's Column

He is very impressed with Courtney Cameron

"Cameron, though, was doing really well, and putting in some really good balls. The through-ball he played for Ryan Bowman for the first goal was superb. He looked like a million dollars.

He looked like a proper player, because he was doing the right things consistently. He looked like somebody who was really going to kick on.

Courtney Cameron played so well on Tuesday, and I said on the radio that I thought the right back, Fazakerley, was poor. But unknown to me, he was named as the best right-back in the Conference last year."

That's the first thing I've seen written by Guy that is positive about Torquay United! He's been very negative about his former club recently.

Yeah I noticed that too his comments on the radio were not positive especially our defence

Well to be fair, there hasn't been much positive to talk about recently. It's his column so he says what he thinks, which is that Torquay have been under performing recently.

I wouldn't argue with that

Well he did say he would much rather have the Greeks set of players than ours-a mixture of players the manager didn't want and players we had bought in that their former clubs didn't want.Apparently the Greeks young stars will do better than most are predicting according to Branno

Quite relieved that this is not an Ian Botham inspired title.

His commentary on the Welling game was quite critical of the defence in the second half, but a lot of posters were too. It's certainly the area that we are the weakest.

I still can't believe there isn't a picture of Ian Botham's dangly bits with Ashley Cole lurking behind him yet.

Wishful thinking on your part I think ;-)

Even if I were a lad of a confused persuasion, I don't think it would be Ian Botham's shrivelled penis that would turn me. That would be like having your pick of the world's supermodels and turning them down for Susan Boyle.

Not sure Guy Branston has much of a grasp on non-league football. He did say for example that Chris Hargreaves would be happy with Torquay's start as they have played two of the top teams (or words to that effect). Perhaps Welling will shock us and get to the play offs or even Southport?

His views on Torquay United in the last year could be down to the fact that he remains a little bitter at not being considered for the managers job at Plainmoor, who knows? It does seem he almost wants the club to struggle....and yet all the time he is banging on the Home Park door saying "let me back in....please"

One things for certain, listening to Guy, I get the same feeling as listening to George Galloway, always interested in what he has to say, but over half of it is naive, wrong or even (sadly) at times plain stupid

I hope G Bromley Branston and Brat Pillickneck never do a TQ match commentary again. Here's a clue how commentary goes : "Rice throws the ball to Cruise - ball passes inside to Young - Young switches to Cameron running the right touchline - Cameron goes past one player - and another - still Cameron - crosses into the goalmouth from the goal line - BOWMAN HITS THE BAR WITH A HEADER!!! . . . . . . ."

That's the way to do it, that's commentary and not two prats yappin' away biggin' themselves up.

Radio Devon : SORT IT OUT! :@

Then there's Julian Gaunt and Dave Thomas . . . . . .

They do, their names are Steve Breed and Dave Thomas, best combo for me. Both fans, both passionate, both knowledgeable. Was it Julian Gaunt last season who at one point said something like "Lets take a step back from the game and talk about football in general." ?

Er... no mate, id rather not, I'm sat like a plum by the radio to listen to what's happening in the match, not your thoughts on football. Tit.
