Post by MF68 »

Im interested what you all may think we may be in 3 months from now. Thea Gone. Hargreaves should be gone. Board probably gone. Conference football Gone ??

So what, where, who and when will anything stop this rot.

No doubt its going to take time, as rightly identified by Thea and Kelvin the next owners have to be the 'right' people

You only have to look at Hereford to see why the decision is crucial,

There will be interest with the club being debt free and that will atrract some bids from nonsense parties and im sure KT will be able to easily dismiss those.

It will unfortunately take time and I'm sure discussions are happening all the time, whoever they are they'll have to be passionate as one of the immediate tasks will certainly be trying to sell season tickets!

Unless Welling have an incredible upturn in form and taking into to consideration Welling's run-in fixtures, I think we can safely say Torquay are not going down this season, I do not see Welling getting another 10 points, and think our team will pick the odd result along the way, that said current form is suggesting a 20th place finish.

As far as everything else, I can not add much or certainly improve on what Roar has said above, other than this coming summer break is going to be the most important in our history. Hopefully new owners will be in place, they'll have massive decision regards Chris Hargreaves, and whether CH is still in situ or we have a new manager, summer recruitment has to be spot on, continue as we are now with the status quo maintained I think the conference south could well be our new home.

Fixtures should just be coming out in 3 months with Carlisle, Hartlepool, Gateshead and Barrow all to look forward to in the Conference. Perhaps with a bank holiday we could play 3 (Fri Sat Mon) like in the old days and us travelling fans could make a long weekend of it. Local derby for us, Cheltenham and Eastleigh. Hargreaves gone. Agree 100% with Roar, must be careful who takes charge and Hereford is indeed a good example, the troubles those fans have had to get through. Harry Redknapp who allegedly has bought 2 flats in the old Palm Court complex should buy the club as a project giving advice and the benefits of his connections to his son Jamie who could be manager. Sorted.

Sorry Yellow, You are right of course. After Eastleigh, who would be next closest if Gas go up?

Not many! Kidderminster, Aldershot. Basingstoke if they come up.

Basically attendances will be awful.

Forest Green will still be in the Conference. They may sneak in the play offs but that's the best they'll be. Three months time - middle of June. We'll have finshed 12th - just got into the top half. Players who have helped to drag this club down will have gone. Rumours will be flying around about players we're about to sign and we sign a striker from somewhere like Accrington called Manbow or something and everyone will be drooling on here that he's going to be a 20 goal a season striker .... ;-) We'll survive in the Conference but I fear we're in it for several seasons this time. For the likes of some of us old gits on here, that final game against Wycombe could well be the last football league game we see at Plainmoor. On that sobering thought, I'll take me tablet and get to bed !!

For me, it doesn't really matter. If any prospect of the Football League is gone for good (which I suspect it has), Conference National for the foreseeable future, is as equally unappealing as Conference South - the only benefit of being Conference is that if you have a good season you might get promoted to the Football League but other than that, there is no merit, nothing positive about being in this league, and therefore we may as well be a part-time club playing in the same league as Tiverton.

I hate this division we are in. It is neither the Football League, nor the comforts of regional football. It is this horrible limbo, no-mans land of dullness and to see us struggling in it, is really soul-destroying.

3 months time............depends on the budget the new board can come up with. If it is competitive by comparison to others in the Conference, meaning top ten, I think we should try and stay professional with a squd of 22.

If we find ourselves outside the top ten budget wise then Semi Pro it must be.

God, I hope the new owners aren't like you lot. For all CH blusters about budget, even without FL parachutes we should still have a budget that would place us 8-10th in this league. Hardly much of an overachievement to finish in the top five, is it?

Semi pro - ridiculous. If the new owners contemplate that they may as well not bother in the first place.

Hectors last paragraph is about the best summation of this dreadful division and how we are coping with it. Could not agree more.

Thea gone.

Hargreaves still here.

KT's influence will be interesting. No doubt useless Baker and Phillips will be there.

If we're playing Conference football next season we'll be lucky.

New regime in charge of the club, somewhat bigger playing budget, new squad, same manager - who will be replaced by a new manager in November if we are not challenging for promotion - but if the new regime appoints a new manager in three months' time I shall not complain. That's football!
